I am assuming that the large window in picture #1 is the one Lilian referenced when she said that he wanted to put a chair in the big picture window and sit and meditate----but never did. I went through all the pictures in the huffington link. Am I correct that this is the same kitchen that we have all seen in those home movies? Or is it just a generic tiled kitchen of the times? The house looks like it is in original condition --and beautiful. As soon as I get the money and move to California, I will buy the place and invite everyone on these boards for a party (I wish). Thanks for the great pictures.

Apr 26 11 7:00 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Bela and Lillian were living in this quite spectacular house by the summer of 1933 and stayed there until late 1935 or early 1936, when they moved to Outpost Drive. (The real estate note about Lugosi living here in the 1940s is incorrect.) Cool to realize Bela lived here while making such films as THE BLACK CAT, MARK OF THE VAMPIRE, THE RAVEN and THE INVISIBLE RAY. I've visited the house and photographed the exterior during various research trips to L.A., but have never managed to get inside the house. It's very dramatic, sits high on a cliff, and certainly suits Lugosi's personality! The house has appeared very sad and neglected in recent years and it's good to see that some restoration has clearly taken place.

Sorry if I'm failing to observe any sort of proper etiquette) I took a look on Google Earth using the 3-D function, and it looks like its possible the sign would be very visible over the roof, although there may be some trees that don't show on Google Earth that might spoil the view. The thing that makes me think it may have been doctored, though, is that the sign is nearly a mile from the home and I can't believe it would look as large as it does in the photo. ...and by the way, Grape, welcome to the boards.
