I'm delighted to learn that Subversive Cinema has been working at acquiring the rights to my favorite seventies exploitation film. This is one surprisingly thoughtful movie, with some interesting characterizations and thematic undercurrents. I've raved about it over the years on various message boards, and had a real thrill a while back when actor Steven Sikes sent me an e-mail saying thank you for all the nice words I've had for the movie and the people who worked on it. Sikes also runs a MySpace page devoted to the movie, and shares some reminscences about filming, the cast (the camadarie exhibited onscreen was real) and locations, among other things. Director Rene Daalder, who has had a fascinating life and career, also has a page on the film at his official website, featuring Quicktime clips of both the opening scene and Roger Ebert's review from At The Movies many years ago. Finally, here's the great trailer, courtesy of YouTube (spoilers in there, though!)
