It seems to me that Cage himself is usually very good, and that good movies outnumber bad ones in his filmography. He's probably very happy to have made this one; he's a life-long comic book fan.

Gradually they get worse by giving away more and more of the story. In some cases, you don't need to see the film. I agree with Bill re Nicolas Cage -- he's turned into a darn good actor. ... Reed

Bizarre choice of Marvel character to bring to the screen as far as I'm concerned. Then again, I'd have said the same about Blade, so what do I know. Jul 20 06 7:05 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	GHOST RIDER was one of Marvel's most visually distinctive characters, one where the story was almost secondary to the sight of him roaring down some deserted desert road, skull blazing. It felt almost like an urban myth come to life. As kids, my friends and I all bought, read, and traded GHOST RIDER comics. Now that I think about it, it might have been one of our most popular titles. I will be curious to see how it turns out on the big screen. Sometimes, these secondary properties (in terms of public familiarity) make for the best adaptations. BLADE is a case in point, as was THE ROCKETEER, THE SHADOW, and SIN CITY. Cage has always been a big comic book fan, so I hope he was able to exert some positive pressure on the set, and this movie will be really fun and faithful.

CGI just can't get that weird hand made, jittery quality that stop-motion has, and having to just manage the eerie flames as CGI...I don't know, just a thought.

He had acquired Ghost Rider at that point, possibly because the skull motif reminded him of some European comics characters, and since I was a comics type I got the assignment. We were discussing the treatment I had written when he suddenly said "You mean he not the bad guy?" Needless to say, the picture never got made..

CGI flame, especially, doesn't do it for me. Then again, if they can do Ghost Rider flame, can Dormammu be next? david

I've always been a fan of the Ghost Rider from his early appearances in the 1970's thru all of his modern incarnations. I still have all of his comic book appearances to this date. The character was very different for his day, when he first appeared and has a very unique appearance. Heres hoping it comes out right(and no, I dont want a franchise built around it!) and becomes a cult classic for the future.

I wish the Powers That Be made three-or-four films for adults for every comic book adaptation produced. In the current ticket-buying environment, I fear that is too much to ask for.

Trouble is, these films aren't showing up at the megaplexes; they're mostly consigned to art film houses or direct to DVD releases. Once again, it's the media that's the problem, not necessarily a lack of intelligent, adult-oriented filmmakers. ... Reed

I wouldn't worry to much Doc, as Sir Harry's comment reflects they are running out of comics characters that enough of the general populace is familiar with to start new series, so I would figure that roughly by the middle of the next decade their will be nothing left (probably a lot sooner than that actually). Hey who knows, maybe 70 years from now film historians and fans will be talking (on the equivalent of a message board) about the early 2000s as "The Golden Age of Superhero movies" *Quote:* Then again, if they can do Ghost Rider flame, can Dormammu be next?
