Many horror and monster novels of the 1800's and early 1900's have "classic" status-Dracula, Frankenstein, the Invisible Man, Mr. Hyde, etc. However, I tried to think of which adventure novels might have similar status.
So, a preliminary list:
James Fenimore Cooper's novels about Natty Bumpo
Haggard's Allan Quatermain novels
Doyle's Sherlock Holmes novels
Orczy's Scarlet Pimpernel novels
Burrough's Tarzan and to a lesser degree John Carter novels
C.M. Mulford's Hopalong Cassidy novels
