It does not appear that they are, although I had read once somewhere that his father was Edward G. Robinson (untrue as Andrew's father died in WWII). Another standout creepy role for Andrew is in HELLRAISER as the father, and his brother Frank once that character takes his skin for his own (yikes!).

The AHH I meant is "Forecast :Low Clouds and Coastal Fog," with him, Richard Jaeckel and Peter Brown as three characters who turn out to be SPOILER frightening characters at the end. I'm a little surprised by your answer, because the look Chris gives during that last part is a real Andrew Robinson in Dirty Harry KIND of look.

Apr 22 12 6:09 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Never seen any of the films before, but bought the blu ray box set for £10 last year, and started watching the films yesterday. Currently watching THE ENFORCER. These are teriffic films, Eastwood is great, and some nice bits of humour thrown in here and there. Very violent but ideal. Looking forward to the rest of the films.

Apr 30 12 6:57 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I always thought THE BEGUILED was a Gothic Civil War-era horror film, with Clint playing a Yankee scoundrel who riles the libidos of all the women in a Louisiana girls' school. The scene where his leg gets amputated makes you squirm without actually showing anything, just lots of blood. Following this with more films with Don Siegel, PLAY MISTY FOR ME and DIRTY HARRY, really was a golden era for Eastwood.

Don did have a small role as a bartender in it though. THE BEGUILED is great BTW.

May 1 12 11:47 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Andy Robinson once said that after DIRTY HARRY and CHARLEY VARRICK, people, usually men, would come up to him and ask "do you feel lucky, punk?" It got old rather fast, and it seems today he's rather embarrassed about it. After seeing DIRTY HARRY, John Wayne, who was once considered for the part, asked one of his assistants "how did we let that one get away?" After seeing Mc Q, it was a good thing it did get away from him. Just a quick observation - whenever someone discusses Eastwood and his career, the 2 films that almost always call into the cracks are JOE KIDD and 2 MULES FOR SISTER SARA, which was also directed by Don Siegel. Granted they are far from being classics, but don't they at least deserve a mention?

May 1 12 11:00 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	JOE KIDD undoubtedly fell through the cracks as it was his first film after the phenomenally successful DIRTY HARRY. And it was important that Don Siegel be around for Clint's directorial debut on PLAY MISTY FOR ME, as I'm sure Michael Reeves would agree on just how good a director Don was. Eastwood last collaborated with Siegel on 1979's ESCAPE FROM ALCATRAZ.

May 2 12 6:02 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Remember, fun to realize that PLAY MISTY FOR ME is on the movie theatre marquee, during DIRTY HARRY's opening gun-fight... (And, you guys know that Albert Popwell, who plays the bank robber laying on the street ("I's gots to know!"), then played parts in each of the sequels, up to becoming Harry's partner, in SUDDEN IMPACT...) I always thought that DIRTY HARRY really hurt Robinson's career. I think Seigel may have had an inkling of that impact, and that's one reason he cast him as the juvenile "lead" in CHARLEY VARRICK (an underrated thiller!). By the way, Robsinon was a SEMI-REGULAR, ultimately, on DEEP SPACE NINE, in the era when he finally seemed to break out of his typecasting. It's interesting to remember that DIRTY HARRY was first thought of--and perhaps even developed for--FRANK SINATRA. I finally picked up a VERY early draft for it, a few months back, and have had only time to scan through it... VERY different. It opens with a gun lecture (!), and at one point, has Lt. Callahan visiting a gun show. (Remember, this would have been a followup in the era of TONY ROME, and THE DETECTIVE...) Now, that's what I'm waiting for: DIRTY HARRY--THE MUSICAL "Do you feel lucky punk? "This gun ain't a piece of junk. "It'll make your good day, blue. "And the streets will be through with you!" (The dream ballet sequence will be killer.) ;-) Best, Jim

May 3 12 10:57 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I find Zodiac to be one of the more disturbing serial killers simply because he's another one who got away ... sure, one can see a clear trend in Clint's films, and so many unrelated Vietnam flicks ( Stallone in particular ) where there's a revision of events that didn't go well. "Lord I love Spring! The birds, the fair weather, the new flowers. It doesn't get any better than this. HOLY CRAP! what's THAT?!?"

May 3 12 11:38 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I mentioned this in another thread; John Milius did uncredited work on the DIRTY HARRY script. Some of his stuff made it into the final script, some of it did'nt. At one point in Milius's version, Harry says "You want to hunt in the city? Get your gun!" His stuff was good enough to land him the MAGNUM FORCE script. Perhaps Albert Popwell was both Don Siegel and Clint's good luck charm, as far as Harry goes. Sadly Popwell died early and was missing from THE DEAD POOL. Big Ed Mustafa - "You really are a dirty bastard!" Harry Callahan - "The dirtiest."

The closest thing I can think of is the guy he shoots while drinking a beer at the saloon, and that's in the first 15 minutes! Eastwood's character is just too forgettable and seems so ancillary to the overall plot. It's one of his lesser westerns.

I can somewhat tolerate HANG 'EM HIGH, but JOE KIDD has no saving graces for me. At least the co-feature of THE GROUNDSTAR CONSPIRACY saved the afternoon back in 1972. I recently bought a three-pack which had KIDD along with HIGH PLAINS DRIFTER and TWO MULES FOR SISTER SARA (both screened already), and I still can't summon up the curiosity to watch it.
