Mar 15 11 2:23 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	When we think of our favorite Detective characters from popular Film and TV series it is usually the quality of the actor playing the role that elicits our enjoyment, even more than the actual plot construction of the various mysteries. While some actors perform so naturally that their detective characters seem almost an extension of their own real life personas, others virtually disappear into the role completely. Either way the end result is a Series Detective character that becomes as much (or more) of an icon than the actor playing him (or her). Please check the actor/detective you believe has, via their performance, created the most definitive character. Which of these Detectives, by virtue of the actor's performance is the most fully realized Series Character? There is nothing of the actor even remotely visible in his performance. He completely submerges his own personality and simply becomes Poirot. May 13 11 2:22 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Sidney Toler was the best Charlie Chan, IMHO (and that of my mother who got me interested in these movies). Also wish Geraldine McEwan as Miss Marple had been a choice. And am I the only one who remembers Jim Hutton as Ellery Queen? Still, had to vote for Peter Falk. Can never imagine anyone else playing Colombo.

My top picks from your list would be Oland, Rathbone and Jack Lord. I noticed right off though that I would add Raymond Burr as Perry Mason, and Leonard Nimoy as Spock.

A Detective with sore feet, chronic indigestion and the cynical humour of a man who sees more dead bodies than live ones. Add two ex-wives and the nagging thought that today might be the day he WASN'T going home... With an actor like Orbach and a character like Briscoe, it couldn't be anyone else. "E" Your Signature ... "....I do hope he won't upset Henry..."
