I am comparing these to the old US Image 10 volume LOST FILMS OF LAUREL AND HARDY collections. Strangely some are better looking in the UK editions and some are way better looking in the old Image ones. Many of these are the SAME transfers as far as I can tell, but not all.I also just realized that ALL of the silents are on the Image sets and THE LUCKY DOG (their first ever pairing and 4 years or so before Roach) is only on the US set. This film is easily available in budget US collections, but the quality is excellent on the Image disc that is on Volume 3. So we have been complaining (well, I have, for one) for years that L&H were not out in the US, but, in fact, ALL the silent shorts were. Too bad these DVDs are OOP as there is some very good solo work scattered throughout.Only one or two of the talkies are in the US sets. As I get more into these I will post the differences if there is any interest.
By the way, if anyone would want to sell their booklets or at least scan them (for copies of the Image DVDs?), pm me.

Joe Karlosi wrote:Well, while the Hallmark discs were nothing to write home about overall, there are examples where the quality there was better than the UK set (I'm pretty sure Hallmark's presentation of CHICKENS COME HOME may have been better). Hallmark's BLOCK-HEADS was nice, and I have read that the UK version is missing something... though I haven't tried it out yet.
