May 22 12 4:16 PM More My Recent Posts	Sorry I should have been clearer. Are there merchandising opportunities immediately for the film? Not as nostalgia 20 or 30 years later for fans. I realize a company like sideshow will make collectibles for just about anything but to make money on merchandising you need a Star Wars/Transformers/Jurassic Park level of saturation that I think (I could be wrong) an R-rated sc-fi/horror film could not achieve. Sideshow will make its collectibles but I doubt Fox will make much money on merchandising for the film. Could be wrong though.

Here's some insights from the oveseas rating.The British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) has released an extended content review for parents since the film opens in the UK next week. Below is a copy of the rating explanation as printed in the UK that reveals some spoilers, so beware: LAST CHANCE! PROMETHEUS is a science fiction horror film in which a group of people travel to a distant moon. It was classified ’15′ for strong violence, gore, threat and horror. The film contains a number of scenes of strong violence that feature heavy blows and bloody detail. For example, in one scene a character’s arm is broken, revealing blood and bone, and in another scene a character’s head is smashed against the floor, resulting in a large spurt of blood. This emphasis on bloody detail exceeds the terms of the BBFC’s Guidelines at ’12A’/’12′ and is more appropriately classified at ’15′ where the Guidelines state ‘Violence may be strong but should not dwell on the infliction of pain or injury’. There are also some scenes featuring gory detail, both when dead bodies are seen and when people are injured. One scene features some gory surgical detail that exceeds the type of ‘occasional gory moments’ that may be permitted at ’12A’. The Guidelines at ’12A’/’12′ also state ‘Moderate physical and psychological threat may be permitted, provided disturbing sequences are not frequent or sustained’. The second half of the film in particular features a sense of threat towards the central characters that is both frequent and sustained. PROMETHEUS also includes one use of strong language and one implied use of strong language, when a remark is broken up by static. I fail to see how any of that can be described as spoilers. some people want to go in totally cold and not know anything. they may be vague, but if may no want to know the movie has decapitations or head crushing because they start o wonder or anticipate who gets it....

I guess, but everyone should already know there will be some grisly deaths in a film like this and most everyone will likely get it by the end. It's sort of comparable to listing hitting an iceberg a spoiler for TITANIC.

Welp, seeing as how Weylan-Yutani is in the business of terraforming, maybe they are showing a part of the planet that we haven't seen yet...or maybe it's lush before Prometheus lands...or something... That's solid logic, Vic. I figured that myself, it's just that it looks like someplace on Earth instead of another planet. Boy, no one thinks of shooting with a color filter over the lens or something, just so it does not look like a location.

That's the impression I'm getting--that the story begins on Earth and then goes to the other planet, with a possible stopover at another planet or two along the way.

They seem to land on a lush LV427, then in the course of the story, the planet ends up being the barren planet of the first alien film. Not that there might not be scenes on Earth to begin with, but the trailer seems to show the planet coming apart at the seams.

The Prometheus is a state-of-art science/exploration vehicle. The Nostromo is a "blue collar" mining vessel. Makes sense for the Prometheus to be slicker and more high-tech, even if it precedes the Nostromo by decades.
