May 4 12 8:20 PM Burgomaster More My Recent Posts	Saw a PROMETHEUS trailer shown before THE AVENGERS today. Looks very solid, especially with Ridley Scott in charge. Interestingly, the trailer never shows an Alien nor mentions ALIEN. Even though the eggs are shown very briefly, and a possible chest-burst and the giant doomed alien gunner, I had a sense few in the theatre knew it was a prequel to anything. Which might be the point. david

He was on CNN the other talking about the last 12 minutes of the film directgly connect the film to "Alien" and the DNA of the first movie is present throughout the whole movie, but that it is not the focal point He talked about this movie working as a stand aloine film and being to watch and uinderstand it without knowing anything about the first movie, but that it will be even more special for fans who have seen "Alien" as it offers insight to the events leading up to "Alien".

Yeah, I think that when people use the word "Prequel", the idea is that the latest film is actually part 1 and the previously made movie is part 2. I'm getting the feeling that this is a totally unique story that exists in the same world as ALIEN, concerning The Company, and assumedly involving xenomorph-life, but not with it's ending leading in to the beginning of the first ALIEN film...

May 7 12 10:15 AM More My Recent Posts	The large sculpture of the metal head looks like a bad nightclub set. Gimme the vast, misty egg chamber of the first film, and the dusty, clunky, diode-laden tech of the Nostromo. This feels sooo slick and new and...not full of the stuff I loved in Alien.

Which might be the point. david In a recent interview, the screenwriter who worked on the final draft said that when he was brought on to the film, the script included facehuggers, chestbursters, the alien, etc. He suggested that these had been overdone and proposed dropping them from the film and starting fresh. Scott went along with his idea, so judging from the latest footage in ads, etc., it looks like they came up variations on the basic concepts, rather than using the classic ALIEN critters.
