Oct 30 06 8:51 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Well just wanted to get into the groove of the season and decided to start with a viewing of CURSE OF FRANKENSTEIN. Not even 2 minutes into the film, I notice something I never caught before. The klump sound of the horse hooves do not match the actual steps of the priests' horse slow going into the prison. Which gave me the idea of....What other inaccuracys, missed-takes and boo boos, can any of you find? There's gotta be a bunch here. Let's keep this relegated to CURSE OF FRANKENSTEIN. Be interesting to see what comes up..

In the story, a scientist named Frankenstein made a monster by sewing together parts of old, dead bodies. He then gave the monster life by shooting it full of electricty. Everybody knows you can't do that! That's so dumb. Where do they get these ideas? This is an utterly, utterly silly and picky thing, but the silhouette of Oakley Court does not match either the interior "rooftop" studio set nor the low-angle shot of the rooftop window of the laboratory (actually the roof of Bray.) And what happens to the little dog? Why, they introduce an important character then just drop him from the story! If Victor had been a real mad doctor like Niemann, he would've put the dog's brain into Christopher Lee's head.

Oct 31 06 2:17 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	- You can clearly see the breaks in the breakaway railing before Cushing shoves the old man through. - The floor visibly bounces like a trampoline when the stuntman hits it. - Immediately afterwards, you can see the shadow of what's presumably a boom mic behind Cushing's shoulder, as it draws away from him. Presto: It probably wouldn't hurt if I got out of the house once in awhile.

After all, he wanted to kill the old professor, didn't he? And as for the floor bouncing like a trampoline, that's probably a good thing since the stunt man landed right on his head. He'd have broken his neck if it had been solid. I can't come up with any argument for the mic, though.

Wouldn't our hero the Baron (the original Hannibal Lecter) want the professor's brain to be in the most perfect condition? So he tosses him off the balcony! This Frankenstein is purely evil and insane, and clearly too smart for his own good, and best Baron Frankenstein of all time. A real anti-hero villian. He IS the monster. I like the way the series ended with ...Monster from Hell. The Baron and his male and female assistants live happily ever after.

That thought occured to me a few minutes after I posted (especially the way Cushing sort of...gently guides him through it, though this is probably in deference to the old actor playing the character)...but I dunno. Wouldn't the neatly (but obviously) partitioned railing have attracted somebody's attention? Granted, I've seen this movie at least a hundred times and never noticed this 'til I watched it on my LCD computer screen a few nights ago -- in slow-mo. Hell, now Warner's going to matte the film to 2.35:1.

Nov 3 06 11:31 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Last time I really looked at this scene, I realized that this looks like it was ice. It just appears to be Glad Wrap. The same prop ice is shown sequentially dissolving as the characters build the fire and "thaw" old Kiwi out, and the ice "bleeds" water. The "ice" behind him is undoubtedly plaster or something, like behind Lugosi in FMTWM, but this poor little scene gets such knocks...
