Stuff like Quatto, the cab driver's arms, the girl with 3 tits, the eyes bugging out, the "2-weeks" lady's head blowing up, etc. That's the memorable stuff that set the movie apart.

The original is such a fun movie to me. Just hilariously over the top and colorful in a way that I miss about action movies now, which seem to be preoccupied with grounding themselves so much that they become drab and dreary.

Mar 30 12 4:52 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I love most Arnold films but - tho I liked the original - I felt that he was not the right person to play what essentially should be an "everyman" elevated to being in an imaginary (or, of course was it?) & extraordinary adventure. I'll go see this and hope against hope that they retain some semblance of a PKD feel. Anywho, I try to see every PKD film I can. Steve "This is the wireless detonator, men," he explained. "When I press this key it will complete a radio circuit in the real detonator tuned to this wave combination. As soon as I can get the boy Hank, I'll have him tow the old duck boat with the wireless bomb and leave it under the radio shack where that Evans chap has his laboratory and his confounded radioplane. Apr 14 12 2:39 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	One good thing to come out of digital effects is sf filmmakers no longer have to rely on factory shooting locations to make a future worlds. They can get as outlandish as sf pulp and paperback cover art and that could be fun.

Gotta agree with Delgadosaur that the 'eyeballs popping outa the sockets' linger in the memory, and are less than palatable-------not a boring movie, though, and heres hoping that that the 'crime' of routine ingredients so beloved of Hollywood will not besmirch this 'update'. But the shots of Arnold and Rachel Ticotin's mannequins with the bulging eyes just took me way out of the moment. Oh, best girl on girl fight I've ever seen.

Bugged eyes, they're about to doe and have their bodies explode, but, hey, Mars now has an atmosphere, so everyone's ok. Roll the end credits.

Jul 4 12 5:03 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Guess I'm in the minority but I wasn't a huge fan of the original, so I have no horse in the race re: whether or not it should have been re-made. But I saw the trailer today in front of the new Spider-man movie and I have to say it looks very promising. Visually it looks like "Movie Sci-fi Greatest Hits", nothing terribly new or innovative -- kinda looked like a mash-up of BLADE RUNNER, MINORITY REPORT and I,ROBOT -- but the sheer SCALE of the thing was impressive. Fingers crossed.

Jul 8 12 2:44 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I just watched the 1990 film, which I saw on general release 22 years ago; at the time, I thought it was the ultimate in 'sophisticated' filmed sci-fi, but today I reckon this movie has dated a lot worse than many other 80s-90s sc-fi escapades. I reckon it starts off well, but the often hysterical acting [granted, the source novel was likely mind-bending] soon grates and the excessive straining for effect gets tiresome------I found myself laughing out loud at some of the more overtly strenuous sequences. For once, I'll be glad to see some 'good ole' CGI in the upcoming remake: those 'futuristic' cars in the 1990 version were just pathetic. Arnies ' next vehicle [T2] debuted only a year later, but to me the later film is much more eminently watchable than this now-messy-looking escapade. Some good scenes, though: the holographic window, the X-Ray skeletons, the exploding 'head'. A lot of the TVs on view are hopelessly bulky looking in this future, though........
