I actually had a blast. Whereas I've gotten to the point where I can predict almost any screenplay, this one was so gonzo WTF I just enjoyed it's 100% random unpredictability. It reminded me of a 50's sci-fi film, and gloriously so. Bizarre. Bad bad bad acting, but the... seamless CGI was effective eye-candy." One mans opinion. Nov 13 10 1:43 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I saw this today... Skyline is a movie where the monsters and aliens easily outclass and out act the human characters by a mile. I didn't care what happened to a single one of the people on the screen because they were both poorly portrayed and possessed problems all completely irrelevant to what was going on. Unfortunately they are on screen quite a bit and not always running from or fighting the monsters. Whenever there was a scene of "character development" I just wanted them to get back to the creatures as quickly as possible. That said the monsters are fantastic!!! There are basically four types. Big ones that look like a cross between Cthulhu and King Kong. Medium size flying ones that look like Sentinels from The Matrix. And finally small ones that look like a cross between a Xenomorph and a squid. They are all fantastic and make the show! The end of the movie is a total WTF but actually may be the most interesting part of the whole film. I feel that the last five minutes of the movies - most of which is actually composed of still shots shown in between the beginning of the credits! - is unbelievably cool and deserves to be a movie all its own. Hopefully a better one than this.

No ending except a stupid, irritating setup for a sequel I hope never gets made. The effects are good, but so what? Movies with good effects are a dime a dozen these days; what's really rare are movies with good scripts. The aliens look o.k., except for the cheap, tacky glowing eyes--it's as if someone shoved a string of Christmas lights inside their heads. Skip it and see MONSTERS instead. Having hated both this and AVP:R, I can now safely avoid anything directed by The Brothers Strause in the future. (Oh, and Colin, Greg? When I saw the jets finaly arriving to fight the alien mothership I thought, "I wonder if Randy Quaid is up there?" What was up with the ending? Would have been better just to end with the couple floating up to the alien ship. Yeah, these are spoilers but so what? Who really cares?

I can understand that. Its an ending that you kind of know is coming and yet is still totally out of left field. I think how cool you find it will really depend on your mentality. When I realized what was happening I sat up straight and leaned forward for the first time, got really interested. So far everyone of my friends and co-works I've talked to this weekend who have seen Skyline - even those who have hated it - have all agreed that the end is the best part and that the "sequel" that it seems to be suggesting would be a thousand times more interesting and fun to watch than the film we had to sit through to get there.
