Oct 27 10 10:34 AM More My Recent Posts	My brother just sent me this: http://www.comicbookresources.com/?page=article&id=29101 "Inception" and "The Dark Knight" helmer Christopher Nolan is known for his supreme secrecy regarding his film projects, but today the director let two pieces of vital information slip in regards to the next Batman movie for Warner Bros. In the tease of a more lengthy interview on the LA Times' Hero Complex blog, Nolan confirmed that the title of the next Christian Bale-starring Batman movie will be "The Dark Knight Rises." And as for who the titular superhero will rise up to defeat, "It won't be the Riddler," Nolan said, noting that many characters from his previous Bat-films would appear in "The Dark Knight Rises" to help complete the trilogy. The film was previously given a release date of July 20, 2012. Little else is revealed in the story beyond the extreme difficult reporters have getting the director to talk about his upcoming projects, but the Times does promise a more full story to come where Nolan discusses his plan to stay away from 3D for the film and focus on other film techniques that can utilize the IMAX format. Which makes me wonder - it might make sense for a woman Bruce or Batman has encountered in the last two films becoming Catwoman...

Oct 27 10 12:51 PM More My Recent Posts	Did Harvey Dent REALLY die in the second film? A return of Ras al Guhl would be cool as well. As I understood it, they really wanted to do the trial of the joker in the third film but could not now for obvious reasons.

Oct 27 10 1:25 PM More My Recent Posts	A joker trial sub-plot would have been awesome. Or even a "Silence of the Lambs" type-scenario where batman has to enlist joker's help to catch the new villain. I'm not crazy-familiar with the comics, but I feel like the Joker, Harvey, Riddler, and Cat Woman are the only ones who can fit into the Dark Knight universe...then again I wouldn't have said scarecrow and he made that work.

Oh I'll go see the 3rd film but of all the live action versions of batman, I still prefer the 2 serials even with all their faults. (If they had included a car that looked anything likie a batmobile I'd have liked them even more!)

Really looking forward to this, since Riddler won't be invovled, I assume the villains will be either one of the Al Ghuls or Black Mask. Hugo Strange and Sofia Falcone would be cool too.

In the Animatrix style anthology Batman: Gotham Kight they do a story with Killer Croc where is depicted as an escaped Arkham patient who is deformed like the Elephant Man. This was originally an idea that Grant Morrison used in his series "Arkham Asylum: A Serious House on a Serious Earth" in which Morrison re-imagined many of the Batman villains as characters who could exist in the real world. Thus Clayface was a criminal suffering from an extreme form of AIDS, the Mad Hatter was pedophile with an Alice in Wonderland fetish, and the Joker was a cross-dresser. Morrison's book was one of the ones used as a reference for the Joker's character in "The Dark Knight," along with Alan Moore's "The Killing Joke," and is the reason why the Joker appears in a nurses' outfit at one point.

Yeah, the crummy car used in the serials is close to a deal breaker for me, especially in the 1949 version. I really like Nolan's take on the characters. It's much truer to the "spirit" of the comics than most other screen versions, if not the letter. I can't wait to see what's in store for us in the next movie. Both the screenplay and novelization of THE DARK KNIGHT state that Dent dies. I always thought he died from his fall. I'm really excited about a new Batfilm. IMHO, THE DARK KNIGHT is the best Batman film to date, followed by BATMAN BEGINS and Tim Burton's 1989 take on the character. I'd love to see the Riddler, Penguin, Mad Hatter, Clayface or Harley Quinn as the villain in the next film, or a subsequent one. It would be a wonderful way to tie him back in with the League of Assassins and, oh that's right, silly me. Oct 28 10 10:29 PM More My Recent Posts	I personally am not too bothered by the lack of Riddler. He's way too Joker 2.0 and I couldn't see him fitting in Nolan's universe. It's hard for him to not be depicted as a flamboyant weirdo prancing around in a green jumpsuit twirling a cane around. A film with him screwing with Batman's head by riddling him would just feel like a carbon rehash of The Dark Knight. It was the film everyone wanted, but, to paraphrase The Dark Knight, not the one everyone really needs. I trust Nolan, he will give us something unique and original. I hope Two Face is still alive too. Killing him off I thought was a big dramatic squandering. I could easily see them doing an autopsy on Dent's body and then BAM, his hand shooting up and choking the coroner. Catwoman would fit into Nolan's universe perfectly as she's just a psychobitch who dresses up in a kinky catsuit and hopefully she'll show up, though it will hard to top Burton and Michelle Phieffer's version and also to not copy it. I could see her as sort of like Eckhart's Two Face, a competing vigilante who is rougher and less ethical than Batman. And Selina Kyle would be a nice replacement for Rachel Dawes, though again, it would be a challenge to not copy the Micheal Keaton and Michelle Phieffer dynamic (lovers in one life and adversaries on the other). I do wish they'd recast the Joker personally. Quite controversially, I think Leonardo DiCaprio could fill Heath Ledger's shoes after seeing him in Inception. He looks a little like Ledger and could easily be pushed into a psychotic place by Nolan. I'd love to see him in Arkham seducing Harley Quinn and her springing him. Here! The Scarecrow is one of my favorite villains; I was surprised to see him in TDK, brief as his appearance was. I do hope Nolan brings Cillian Murphy back to reprise the role.
