Mar 12 12 2:52 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I re-read their notice and what they are saying is probably an honest mistake. I've worked in quality control and I have failed audio sync issues many times. It can be 'globally' moved, which means if it's out of sync the same amount throughout, it can be fixed by so many frames either way, that's fine. If the audio, as quoted earlier, is done at the wrong rate and it drifts, or if it is conformed incorrectly during editing in pro-tools, then a replacement fix is made and sent to the authoring house. They have to be clearly marked which is which as the wrong one could be used and this is probably what's happened. It should be PAL 25fps for the DVD and 23.98 for the blu ray. Mar 13 12 9:04 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	The Blu-ray/DVD sets have disappeared from the sites of most, possibly all, of the UK's major online retailers (many, including Amazon, no longer even have a product listing for it), so it looks like a total recall is happening. DPOD was shot on a half frame - these films were shot on a full 35mm frame - so I'm willing to bet that the transfers will be even better!

Mar 17 12 8:28 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I didn't want to comment when I would watch the Blu-ray. I did it last nignt. And I don't understand. Some people wrote about synchro problem for about 15 minutes ?..I checked and i noticed that problem only for the first 2 minutes . Can it be a difference with the Blu-ray players in Europe and the multi region we used in North America? It seems stupid but I'm not the only one who noticed a problem only for 2 minutes...no dialogue scene. For the picture quality, the film look good but not a lot better than on DVDs. There is a difference between the screen caps I saw and what I saw on my TV screen. The most positive thing is the variation in the colours. Every fruit on the table in the castle is noticable, the clothes they wear..etc... I've seen worst Blu-rays than this one..oh yes..

Mar 21 12 3:59 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	There's a new post on Hammer's restoration blog, in which they say that, in addition to fixing the sync issues on Dracula: Prince Of Darkness, the opening, recap scene is being reworked visually for the corrected Blu-rays/DVDs. ...so many of you have commented about this scene, that we, along with StudioCanal, decided to see if there was another way to filter and encode the picture. We did some research and have found an alternate encoding software package that will enable us better to tweak the opening sequence and create an improved encode. We have already completed several tests, and although it’s not perfect (it never could be, due to the workflow from 2-perf OCN to encoded Blu-ray) we feel that we have obtained a better result with less posterization. StudioCanal will replace this scene on the revised discs (with sound synch corrections) which will be available in April. We hope you like it! Obviously, I wish that these discs hadn't gone out with all these issues, but I'll give Hammer top marks for listening to feedback. It's probably no consolation to you, but no one - that I've heard about, anyway - has received a reply from that email address yet. The lack of response on this point has been disappointing.

I sure won't buy the film again in april just for a 120 seconds Prologue with sync problem on sound effects or the picture quality of that sequence inside a little diamond surrounded by smoke. .. this is a nice free Blu-ray.. and for those who thinks that release is scandalous.. keep your DVDs..
