You can read about it here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wingtip_vortices< Nice try! And yes, the first "breaking the sound barrier" cone is cool. But those streamers look like contrails, so the effect fails. >But seriously, does someone really have a problem with that?< Yes, seriously. Because "that looks stupid" moments ruin any film, whether Comics, Kitchen Sink Drama, or Kaiju. >It certainly never bothered me when I saw any other superhero do it in shows or comics.< Comics are a flat graphics, representational medium. You've seen this effect in a "show," as in motion pictures?

It's about balance, Hal.
The palate available is much, much broader than just what fits between '70's cheese and and as Andy says, "pretentious." Balance - as in that gritty '50's season you and I both loved:I haven't given up all hope; in fact, the vibe I get from the lead is good. But the overall production looks grey, just grey. (And if you think the Nolanverse is "realistic," well... maybe for the decaying, imploding Soviet Union, about 1990.)And the suit - which is not an irrelevant element here - just looks like shitte. Ugly palatte, un-Clark design, impractical; hey, if "realism" is the goal here, what's the point of the whole caped wetsuit rig anyway?-Craig
