I have always said that if the FVK had been played completely straight and had starred Peter Cushing it would have been one of the best vampire films ever. Cut the goofiness and have the vampire killers be serious about their job and it would be great. The thing this film has going for it is the atmosphere. The snow covered landscapes and castle give the film something other vampire films don't have. Take out the unfunny parts (and most are imho) and you have a classic. Imagine this film with Cushing and Lee (though Ferdy Mayne really doesn't need to be changed). That would have been amazing.
