Sep 25 10 5:31 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	If you make a search on Google, you must type "Caperucita y Pulgarcito contra los monstruos", if a DVD exists it must be from Mexico and the title written in Spanish. I don't know if an English-dubbed version is available on video. My own copy was recorded from Mexican TV by a penpal.

The English-dubbed version has pretty much disappeared from sight since its copyright was reinstated in the U.S. under the GATT Agreement.

Really, I totally enjoyed them (I honestly was not sure if I would or not). Once the shock of the giant, talking skunk and the ratty looking wolf wears off, and if you can try to link back to your childhood, you might find these films a lot of fun. For me, the second film (LITTLE RED RIDING HOOD AND HER FRIENDS) was the most fun, but many here will get a bigger kick out of LITTLE RED RIDING HOOD AND THE MONSTERS which would probably have scared the bejesus out of me as a tiny tyke. I think I have one of these films in the English dubbed version. I may give it a watch soon to see how they compare. I suspect it is much more enjoyable watching the original Spanish language versions. Just a big bare-chested, wrestler looking guy who has "super-breath" that can blow everybody away and knock over stuff. LRR and friends defeat him by knocking him down, ripping out handfuls of his chest hair and stuffing it in his mouth. Hope that's not a spoiler. Nov 12 10 10:48 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I picked up Gato from Amazon, but I got the Caperucita set from Ebay, $20 bucks for the three DVDs. We saw Gato last night, and are still waiting for Caperucita. I never saw these as a kid, but had caught one of them on TV some decades ago, even if I don't quite remember which one it is, it is the one with the skunk. So no nostalgia for me. Those full head masks are still freaky and I still cannot stand (or even understand, in song,) that highly affected voice the Cat and the Rooster use. Was that voice done in post-dubbing? We did recognize some of the locations, even if my wife and mother in law coulnd't quite make up their mind whether it is a park in Quiroga or Mexico City. My wife has photos of the park when she was a kid, but I've never been there. The Genie/Ogre getup was interesting, it fooled my kids. Humberto Dupeyrón as Juanito is pretty good, even manages not to look remotely embarrased by the whole proceedings. Actually, the whole cast, other than the costumed enanos plays it quite straight. There is a bit there in the middle which could be edited a little better, but overall it is good, if freaky, kiddie matinee fare. Is the English dubbed any good? "There is a lot of money tied up in this film and people expect to hear a boom when something blows up, so I'll give them a boom." Has both characters teaming up to rescue the Ogre and the Wolf from being killed by the Wicked Witch (who closely resembles the witch from Disney's Snow White.) Since both have become good, they no longer fit in with the other monsters. The Witch also turns everyone in the village into either grotesque monkeys or white mice. Caperucita and Pulgarcito barely escape this horrible fate. That's it really. Not much of a plot, and the movie is mostly annoying because of the over exaggerated/affected character voices so that you can hardly understand what they are saying. We get a vampire (a John Carradine type who get staked, mostly offscreen;) a Frankenstein Monster, 'Frankestino,' who talks; a pinheaded Boogieman ('El Coco' in Spanish, but here named 'Cocoliso' or "Smooth Coconut"; ) a Child Abductor character, "El Robachicos;" a very ineptly executed Siamese twin couple; a Hurricane Monster, who seems right out of a Russian Fairy tale movie, (if I could only remember which one!) And lots of others, who seem mostly to be wrestler-types in various degrees of costuming. Someone's (a dummy's) mask falls off during a fight scene. Seen in the Spanish version; the bizarre reputation this film gets probably befits the English translated version better.
