Went into Poundland today (Poundland is a chain-store where every item costs £1.00, mostly rubbish but the occasional hidden gem can be found...). Amongst the improved selection of halloween costumes, masks, toys and general tat was a large display containing a bunch of DVDs. I HAD to buy one of each, some I already had on multi-disc collections, but bought them anyway. The films they had were: Plan 9 From Outer Space The Thing From Another World The Wasp Woman The Bat Little Shop of Horrors The Killer Shrews Attack of the Giant Leeches King of the Zombies The Terror White Zombie Indestructible Man To say I was pleased is a major understatement. Nicely presented discs (from a company called Archive Media Publishing Ltd) with the covers featuring the original poster artwork, these should keep me going for a few days!

These Poundland shops can be hit and miss but it's well worth a visit. Is the picture and sound okay? It probably doesn't matter too much as I just watched the Cheezy Flicks version of 'Billy The Kid Versus Dracula' last night - if I can watch that then I can watch anything! It was like watching a fuzzy old VHS recording through a piece of gauze. In a thick fog. With bad cataracts. In the dark.

I asked the Manager why and she said all titles had been recalled by head office, but she didn't know why. Maybe there is a rights problem?. I'm sure that 'The Thing From--' is out on a legit label (Universal?)

I came out with The Thing From Another World, Fiend Without A Face,The Wasp Woman, Attack Of The Crab Monsters, Indestructible Man. Picture quality is really good, I was really surprised, I was not expecting them to be so good. I also saw in the range....House On Haunted Hill, Horrors Of Spider Island. I am going into another store tomorrow to see if there are any other titles.

I worked at a store that sold CD/DVDs and anytime something was recalled was almost always a legal issue,such as the time we got in KISS MEETS THE PHANTOM OF THE PARK,a title i knew wasn't out legitimately. As soon as it came in i bought it and later that day,a manager said main office sent out an e-mail saying it had to be sent back. I later sold it on ebay for a good chunk of $$. The ED WOOD DVD was also recalled for similar reasons and became an ebay bread winner. I am guessing THE THING and FIEND WITHOUT A FACE are two of the problematic titles. Looking at your list,the majority of the others are public domain and have been reissued to death in the States by the usual suspects (Mill Creek, Alpha, Diamond) while THE THING and FIEND were released here by Universal and Criterion,respectively.

The only issue was about 20 minutes before the end the screen went black and some sort of card briefly came up, dated 1985! The film then continued to the end.Guess it was from the master tape.... For £1 guess I can't complain! Enjoyed the film as well!

Sep 22 10 3:10 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Big Knockers sounds interesting for research purposes. I picked up Plan 9 because it had such a nice cover don't know what the quality is like. I have a release of the Killer Shrews from a few years back and it was unwatchable.

I feel so cheated. Is the 'Plan 9' cover photgraph based, H or does it feature some kind of artwork?

Picked up WHITE ZOMBIE, WASP WOMAN, THE THING and ATTACK OF THE CRAB MONSTERS.
