I'll be honest: LAM is the only lost film I've ever thought twice about, let alone heard of people pining for. However, I've never been part of a major film society, and really don't know any silent/early talkie enthusiasts away from this board. That said, I wouldn't be surprised if there are squads of collectors scouring barns and defunct Bijous for prints of The Way of All Flesh or The Mountain Eagle, but I've never heard of them.
Is there a major effort to locate other lost films that persists with anything approaching the ardor of those lusting for London After Midnight? Or are the Chaney buffs unique in their devotion? I'm not counting historians and archivists who are interested in any reasonably notable lost film; I'm talking about people who would be utterly overjoyed to find their lost film, but would only be mildly interested in discovering LAM.
