I had a hunch she hadn't bothered to watch them when she identified Jason Evers as English, and when I realized most of the review was assembled out of phrases found in the pressbook synopsis, but the dead give-away was when she declared that INVASION OF THE STAR CREATURES was "just what you might expect from the title". Nobody who sat down for a screening of STAR CREATURES in 1962 could possibly have expected what they got!

Same movie? Some amateur. I think Virginia Leith's descent from incipient Hollywood stardom to BRAIN THAT WOULDN'T DIE in just a few years is actually pretty easy to explain: Lack of talent. In A KISS BEFORE DYING (1956) she is billed just behind Robert Wagner and ahead of Jeffrey Hunter, Joanne Woodward, and Mary Astor. But her performance as the female lead in that movie is embarrassingly bland and lousy. Joanne Woodward, in a smaller role, looks every bit the star she was about to become. Leith just looks hopeless. She's actually much better in BRAIN than in KISS. edit: I just checked IMDb and it is the same FEAR AND DESIRE. This is the tagline for the movie, as offered by IMDb.... "Trapped... 4 Desperate Men and a Strange Half-Animal Girl!" That "half-animal girl" would be Virginia Leith. Last Edited By: Rick Apr 2 12 1:48 PM. Edited 2 times.

I haven't personally seen the alternate footage, but there are notes in MGM's inventory system that the "foreign insert" was located when the film was remastered in 2001. The notes specifically describe the foreign insert as "model scene with the woman nude." There is no full print incorporating the footage; it's on a small separate fine grain comp reel labeled as "foreign insert."
