Sep 4 10 8:46 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Looks like a landside fot TOS. After finishing watching the original series on BR I decided to continue by watching the Next Generation season sets. I found myself getting increasingly bored by the 3rd season and gave up. The biggest problem being that all the main characters were boring. If they were real people and I had the opportunity to hang out with any of 'em -- I say "No thanks!". Whereas, all of Kirk's gang were a hoot, on duty or off. Who wouldn't want to go out bar hopping with McCoy, Scotty and Checkov while on shore leave? You just knew they were gonna go get drunk on Romulan Ale and try to pick up some green chicks...and I'd be down with that. Cromwell

That was always my problem with TNG too, Ghost. Dunno whether it was because The Great Bird was older, or because he was trying not to make them something (TOS dupes) rather than make them something, or...? Picked TOS (though everytime I see FORBIDDEN PLANET, I agree more with the old knock that, like many 60's TV series, this one WAS ripped off from a Feature!) -Craig

As fond as I am of TNG, I'll never forget the 1991 Time Magazine editorial that described the Enterprise D crew as a bunch of "soulless automatons", especially when compared to Kirk, Spock and McCoy. DS9 is literally bursting at the seems with fun, larger than life characters. In that regards, I've always thought it more the keeper of the flame of what STAR TREK really was. Next Generation is more what an older, self-deluded Gene Roddenberry thought STAR TREK was about. -Clark

Dec 7 10 12:09 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	The acting, sets, and effects are better in some of the later series, plus Voyager had Seven of Nine, that's kind of hard to beat. I am therefore casting my vote for the original series, it's just overall more fun, even though I do think that Star Trek and Lost in Space both found a lot of inspiration in Forbidden Planet. Tim

Jun 6 11 11:50 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Although the newer series are technically better, I still prefer the original Star Trek with the quirky sets, they used to be shown regularly on UK tv but it does seem to be the more recent series nowadays unless I'm missing a channel somewhere.
