I need to track that down to complement my regular Halloween soundtrack - I found a YouTube clip of the soundtrack that I included in the Halloween II thread! And the Terminator does have a cool sound, but I'm not sure which soundtracks have the music from just the first film, and which ones have redone versions of the theme... the last time I looked I couldn't tell the difference on the CD versions!

Tarkovsky is one of my favourite film makers and I even wrote about that Lustmord/Robert Rich LP on my blog! The original Edward Artemiev music for Stalker is out there online, it doesn't add up to too much in length, but the music is absolutely great, so worth tracking down. Yep, Harold Budd and The Cocteau Twins are essential listening... Jon mentioned Harold Budd's Abandoned Cities LP a few days ago and I've been listening to it ever since... This is a great thread !

"Doctor Who and the Daleks" and the "Invasion Earth" films both had some really funky electronic scores for their main titles, and some of the incidental tracks. I've been looking for them on disc for decades...But favorites: Well, there's one done by Edgar Froese (independant of Tangerine Dream) That I actually picked up more or less by accident... a friend of mine died and he left me a stack of albums... Most of them I'd heard of before, but then I came across several copies of "Kamikaze 1989" (a somewhat obscure Fassbinder film) in the box... several were new, and unopened... two of them were obviously well played. I guess what my friend had done, was buy several of the LP's, and was keeping several in reserve for when he wore the others out. (!) No other album in his collection had been given this treatment. And When I put it on the turntable back then... I realized WHY...OMG!!!!!http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ANkjdoDMK6E
