Apr 25 12 9:33 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I was a Gibson fan. He's arguably the last of the true movie stars. People who can put butts in movie theater seats based largely on charisma. But he's a man in trouble. I personally think he just couldn't handle the fame and has been unravelling. He became well-known from the first Mad Max film, which he made when he was quite young. But I recall a Rolling Stone profile while he was filming Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome, and there were already problems. He was polishing off six-packs when not filming. Concerned, Tina Turner sent him a publicity photo of himself over which she wrote, "Don't fck this up!" The anti-semitism came from his father, apparently a holocaust denier. As for the episode with the girlfriend, I think there's a whole other side to that business. I don't condone a man hitting a woman, but I also think she stretched the truth quite a bit for her own financial gain. I'm not bothered at all by his "pack of nggers" comment. Given that we hear black rap artists dropping this word in reference to each other I'm not losing any sleep or wringing my hands over a white guy using it in the midst of an alchohol-fueled, raging diatribe to his gold-digging, **ck-teasing girlfriend. I do hope Gibson overcomes his personal demons and gets his head on straight.

I like that movie where he plays a jerk who can hear women's thoughts. Inconsequential fluff. Keep it laid back and innocuous. Cast him in that ROCKFORD FILES reboot and let him turn on the old charisma. Just do it, Mel. Too much angst isn't healthy. Don't make Danny Trejo come in there and kick your ass.

His father didn't just leave because of the draft. He became disenchanted wiht the United States. He didn't like the hippies and the welfare and the rest of it. Gibson has dual citizenship with Ireland so I guess he can go back there.
