Feb 17 11 6:02 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	For your information: I collect 35mm prints and I know they are lot of low fade prints of Time Machine around but they exist also IB Technicolor prints and I own one of them. My print is a german dubbed print and it is struck in 1973 in france. The edge marks say that (plus and a triangle and there is a dot after SAFE in the word SAFETY, tht say this is printed in france. I never heard from a original english print in technicolor but maybe it is possible but maybe not. They exist many IB prints of features, they was never struck IB prints in USA. For example I have also a IB print of 4D Man but it is also a german dubbed print and all US prints are faded eastman prints. Best regards Oemer

Mar 8 11 11:23 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I loved the time-traveling scenes in this movie , from the speeded-up candle, the ever-changing windowshop dummy, and the house getting bombed in the early 1940s. The time-traveling scenes in the 'remake' were also brilliantly executed. The actual future in both versions was a bit of a let-down in both movies for me; I always felt that man's future has two choices of direction: either hyper-progress or annihilation through nuclear weapons. The 1960 vision offers a future where progress has ceased, which isn't quite how I imagined it: however, it takes a brave dude to accurately predict the 'real' future......... Wells didn't really want to deal in prediction--he did that in THINGS TO COME--so in THE TIME MACHINE he put the date the Traveler reaches so >far< in the future, prediction wouldn't be a factor. The year he ends up in 802,701. Nonetheless, devout socialist that he was, he still weaves in a social commentary applicable to his own age..

There was a lot of unresolved romantic tension in the "hair re-arranging scene" though. A friend says the kiddie matinee version took out some "kissing parts". Can't verify this yet. Seems doubtful. By the way, I describe this film to people who don't like science fiction as "A love story between a 30 year old man and a 16 year old girl", going by the ages of the actors. Definitely legal, even 8,000 centuries from now. Yvette’s ingenue quality got her typecast as a sweet, simple girl in a lot of her early roles. In The Light in the Piazza (1962), she played a character who was mildly retarded.

Mar 19 11 6:14 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	One source says the shooting dates for THE TIME MACHINE was May - late June, 1959. I don't know if that's accurate, but if it is Mimieux would have been 17 years-old at the time. She'd have been 18 in Jan. 1960.

Inserts, retakes, or reshoots, if any, would happen later, usually dictated by editorial needs. Also, being a special effects heavy film, the stop motion and other effects would extend total production time. And probably last, as with most movies, the score would be written and recorded.
