Great pics, thanks for sharing.

I just want to know, where were all these pictures when i was starting out, not knowing how anything was really done, and having to experiment and reivent the wheel so many times, only to discover that the old wheels worked better.

Yo Craig ~ I actually owned that EXACT ViewMaster dino set when I was a kid! I may be mistaken, but I think we got that at the Museum Of Natural History gift shop in NYC.

Yeah, I still think I have mine somewhere, too. And I think you may be right, Rak, I think I may have gotten it from the MoNH in NYC. I know I got a small bronze iguanadon from there.

Was there also a View Master set for the Museum Of Natural History itself? I think I had that as well, or maybe it was just a postcard set. I remember the T-Rex and the giant Blue Whale images, but I can't recall if it was a ViewMaster set or just a postcard set.

@ Bob ~ Yeah, perhaps I'm simply remembering a post card set, although on e-Bay, I do see View Master reels for other museums, so it is possible. I just can't remember.

@ Craig ~ That sure looks like it, but mine MIGHT have been red? I'll have to drink on it..I mean THINK on it!

If I'm remembering correctly, viewers came in that tan, grey, red, black, seafoam green, and light blue.

I own a couple examples of an earlier model viewer that is a hinged backloader, instead ot the topslot loader seen here. Those are black.

I remember Harryhausen saying he hated those models. And the close up puppets didn't resemble the animation models at all.

Ahh, lucky kid. You got one of the models with the light? Most folks had to rely on sunlight or backlight it with a lamp.
