DON"T READ ON IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN IT: I thought THE MIST was one of the best monster movies I've seen in years. It's nearly impossible to scare me, but I thought it was very intense, extraordinarily well acted and well adapted. But man oh man, that climax. Kinda hits ya in the ying yang, don't it? My son just about screamed, and people are going to be discussing that one for some time.

Decent acting (the kid in particular) and pretty suspenseful. We both really liked the ending - you just don't see that too often. Unfortunately for my wife, though.... SPOILERS She cannot stand spiders. Gil

Nov 25 07 10:52 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I saw it today and was impressed. Perhaps because so many people poo-pooed the creature FX, I wasn't expecting much. I thought the creatures were very well done and the giant "thing" was quite effective as it was never clearly visible. Just enough to let your imagination take it from there. Uniformly good performances with many familiar faces from Darabont's troupe. I was surprised at how the film had this cool 50's feel to it, but with an amped up intensity that never crossed the crossed the line of poor taste. No Hostel/Touristas crappola here. The drug store scene in particular was a skin-crawling experience. The lack of music and overdone sound effects gave a far more eerie feeling than if we were cued by the soundtrack. Well done. The ending? No spoilers from me. I'm still on the fence as to whether I liked or disliked it. It was definitely a surprise, though. Richard Roeper and this week's co-host said that they saw the ending coming. I doubt that. All in all, a really fun, creepy, suspenseful and scary afternoon at the movies. What else could a monster kid ask for?

Nov 26 07 7:38 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	As a reviewer, I'm usually constrained from discussing a movie in terms of quality until the day it's released; this doesn't apply to non-reviewers who happen to see the film before its official release. But I think it's a courtesy not to give away any plot details that might be considered unexpected, and definitely not to reveal spoilers even WITH spoiler warnings--at least not for a week or so after the film is released. I think spoiler warnings are in order at least until the film goes to video.

Dec 2 07 8:15 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Caught this last night; it's an excellent and faithful adaptation of the King story...and then it tacks on THAT ending, which seemed designed especially to piss off audiences.(Up until that point, the crowd I was with was digging it... then they left the theatre more angry than anything I've seen since the PLANET OF THE APES remake).It would be a much better movie...and would DEFINITLY be getting better word of mouth...if it had stopped at the same point King's story had.

I don't know...when I'm in a thread about a movie that's currently playing, I pretty much expect there's going to be SOME spoilers here and there...otherwise there'd be nothing but 20 posts of "I liked it;" "how come?" "can't tell you it's a spoiler;" "I didn't like it;" "how come?" "can't tell you it's a spoiler." "so-and-so was really great when he...oops can't tell you what he did it's a spoiler." etc etc. My advice would be not to look at a thread about a movie you're interested in until you've seen it, otherwise you might find out some things you didn't want to know. Just my two cents. BTW, I haven't seen THE MIST, but I still want to, spoilers or no spoilers. "The important question is not, are there aliens on other worlds?
