Jul 25 10 1:08 PM More My Recent Posts	Whedon will have a challenge coming up with a script that will make all those stars happy with their individual roles. That was one of the reasons they dumped Ed Norton who proved to be a pain in the ass on the last Hulk movie. My guess is Whedon will keep the characters separated for most of the film and only bring them together in the third act to fight the Hulk or each other.

Jul 25 10 2:16 PM More My Recent Posts	SPOILERS According to people who attended the Marvel panel at SDCC yesterday, both THOR and CAPTAIN AMERICA are going to deal with the Cosmic Cube. So it's a pretty safe bet that this will also be included in THE AVENGERS. I've also heard that Loki will control Hulk just as he did in AVENGERS #1, and that the Skrulls may be involved in some way. I don't know how good these films are gonna be, but I'm looking forward to finding out. The Avengers origin, with Loki and all, is such a part of the Legend of the Avengers it'd be hard to leave it out. Although I always thought it was mighty convenient that the building they were in had a lead lined containment chamber to dump the radioactive Loki in! I have a copy of Issue #1, btw. #4, too. Jul 25 10 9:30 PM More My Recent Posts	I've always thought of The Avengers (Marvel version ... love the TV version of Steed and Mrs Peel so much better) and Justice League were the superhero equivalent of Universal's HOUSE OF FRANKENSTEIN and HOUSE OF DRACULA films. Instead of all the monsters in one film you get all the superheroes in one.....and of course you'll get people complaining that their favorite hero wasn't in the film enough or some such argument. Of course if THOR and/or CAPTAIN AMERICA THE FIRST AVENGER don't do all that well at the box office..... All the promotion, trailers, stills and cast, etc don't always equal a box office success. We've still had more failures than successes if you count all the comic book films made in the last 30 years or so.

I really liked Alfred Molina as Doc Ock and Willen Dafoe as The Green Goblin, not so much with Thomas Haden Church as The Sandman and Topher Grace as Venom. It would be great to see Hugo Weaving as The Red Skull and Dr. Doom with another actor cast in the role rather than Julian Mahon. Maybe Mads Mikkelsen (Casino Royale, Raising Valhalla).

Jul 26 10 1:05 AM More My Recent Posts	It's too bad that Edward Norton isn't returning in the Bruce Banner role. For Marvel to cut him loose I would imagine that some of the stories we heard must be true. But while Mark Ruffalo is a good actor I think that they're going in the wrong direction with the Banner character again. Eric Bana was too beefy to play Banner and I think the same is true with Ruffalo. Bruce Banner was conceived as a wiry bookworm and casting an actor who was physically less imposing in the role would have played to the contrast between Banner and The Hulk much better. I've thought from the beginning that an actor like Cillian Murphy would have been a good choice for Bruce Banner.

Jul 26 10 12:31 PM More My Recent Posts	I didn't see the Ed Norton HULK, and didn't much care for the first one. Though Banner was all over the tv show, the comics I enjoyed were never about Banner anyway. I'd just as soon the films brought in Rick Jones to do his talking instead, and skipped the Banner character altogether. So for me, Banner casting is a non-issue. I'll take it as it comes. And it looks like it's coming on like gangbusters!

I have just finished watching an interview done at SDCC by EW's Doc Jensen and here is a guy that has a real love for the Avengers comics and has imagination and ability. I think he will do justice to the source material and make this a fantastic movie experience.

Meanwhile, I think that one thing we can count on from Joss Wheddon is some snappy dialogue. After watching all of the Buffy and Angel episodes it was pretty obvious that Wheddon had graduated from the Stan Lee school of writing. His throw away lines are the best. Like when Buffy commented at one point that her "spider sense was tingling."

As one of the few people here who stuck with DOLLHOUSE until it got good, I think Whedon's a big, big plus in this equation. His X-Men comics rock. And FIREFLY is absolutely outstanding. Yeah, I'm hoping for snappy dialogue, at the very least.
