For instance, they filmed Joe Dante, Kevin McCarthy and Dana Wynter visiting various L.A.-area sites used for locations in the movie--as well as recording a commentary track. I was interviewed--at surprising length--for the making-of. Then it was discovered that the company (I think it was Paramount) that thought they owned the rights to the original film didn't so own them, and the project was scrapped. I got one big benefit out of it, though--the guy in charge had visited the library holding Walter Wanger's papers and Xeroxed (tm) everything relevant to the movie--then gave me a copy of everything he had Xeroxed (tm).
