I know the sound track was altered when Dracula kills Renfield, stifling the extended screams, and when VanHelsing stakes the count the groans are seriously cut short in many verisons, but was there any more in the way of edits, and are they restored in more recent editions (however, the Universal collection with Drancula still retains the edited sound track; I have the true version on a stand-alone DVD which came out before the big Universal DVD re-release push).

There were numerous cuts made to both FRANKENSTEIN and DRACULA after the production code went into force. Besides the audio censoring of Renfield's screams and Lugosi's groans in DRACULA, you could cite the sequences with Fritz' torturing the monster and his subsequent hanging. The hypodermic needle in the monsters back, The "In the name of God..." audio and Maria's drowning in FRANKENSTEIN. " How's about that pic with Karloff and the girl tied at the chair? From which movie it comes?" THE SECRET LIFE OF WALTER MITTY. (1947) The girl in the chair is Virginia Mayo.

The Victory is one of the few on 42nd street that was relatively spared during the clean-up, and although it wasn't built as a movie house, it spent a majority of its tenure as one. J.
