I was surprised to discover there isn't a topic on this movie AS a movie, so I thought I'd start one.
I have a friend who's nearly obsessive about this movie; he's forever discovering odd things about it. One of those he pointed out to me I immediately dismissed--couldn't possibly be true. And then I checked. When Norman Bates bursts into the cellar, clad in dress and wig clutching an upraised knife, there begins on the soundtrack a faint voice that over the next few split seconds yells "I...... AM.......NORMABATES!" (or maybe NORMANBATES). As I say, I thought this was preposterous, but by George it's really there. I think this was Hitchcock experimenting with subliminal perception--but on the audio track, not in the images.
