I believe it's not the facts stated, but the perceived tone. Perhaps "closing in on their golden years--and, for some, they are there already" is a bit premature. The average age of the people who make "this board great" is somewhere in the 50s. Seems a bit too soon to write them off as just about to pass on, and I think Mirek's comment was read as implying the end was near for the CHFB. It IS true many of us are at an age where we feel our own mortality in a way we didn't in our youth. Mirek, wouldn't it be silly to pretend that the average member of the CHFB doesn't know about your feelings about this board and it's moderation? Some of the comments are here, some are at Latarnia. It's a fact that folks know how you feel. For someone to state that fact is not the same as their stating their motive in responding to you. You inferred a motive by Craig-- to start trouble. He denies it. Alright. But to me, your inference seems no different than others inferring you might like to see the CHFB fail. Craig says his motive was not to start a fight. Okay, take him at his word. What was your motive for bringing up the possible end of CHFB? I'm not stating anything negative about this board or that the end for the CHFB is near. I did mention, however, that this board is "great" because of the posters who make it so, and I used the word "unfortunate" with regard to the passing of members here who are heading toward their golden years (which means, yes, folks in their 50s). Sorry, again, but I had someone close to me die recently who was in her mid-50s, so perhaps death and its fated arrival is on my mind of late. The fact that a few posters here (including now yourself) wish to make my post about something else is... well, your problem. Because you can't read and understand clearly (sorry, once more) without letting the baggage of what you think I think of the CHFB influence your comprehension. My negative comments over at Latarnia about the CHFB and its administration have primarily hovered around the discussion (or rather non-discussion) of the third rail here, FAMOUS MONSTERS/Forry Ackerman. I have always stated, and still do, that the CHFB is the best and most important board of classic horror. If you read and comprehended my posts on Latarnia, you should know that. Mirek

I was trying to get the unequivocal support of "the CHFB is the best and most important board of classic horror" on the record HERE, because I was hoping you would post what you just have. It isn't so crazy for anyone here to think you might have some hostility to the CHFB, given past conflicts here, if they hadn't seen your particular quote about the CHFB at Latarnia. I'm glad you stated it. Yeah, we are feeling our mortality. Me too. I lost a good friend at 48 in 2008. So I understand that you can see a substantial diminution of our community as being somewhere in the not-distant future. I've heard things that make me want to literally vomit, they were so cruel. They do have one great feature, though. They have an "ignore" button. A person can still post, but if he is a known trouble maker, he can be ignored. Something like that would be a wonderful idea. Seriously...The moderators here are fantastic, and this board is great. PS, I was a moderator on a YAHOO board for 12 years...along with 4 other ladies,..so I know what you're all going through. Hang Tough Elisabeth Your Signature ... Jul 2 10 10:45 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	There is a kind-of-an ignore feature built in by Yuku, but it's post specific and doesn't stay put if you leave the Yuku site for any reason. So it's effectively useless. The IMDb boards were a hideous idea and still are. They didn't exist until Amazon took over underwriting the site. They degrade the site and detract from its primary (once stated proudly, now just implied) mission of being a neutral, factual, complete movie DATABASE. I think they were added to incrementally increase the number of hits to the site, which IMDb can use to justify its continued existence to Amazon. Or else just make Needham's ego grow even bigger; who knows. Needham's stated that the boards use a program gotten "off the shelf" at a software store, so they're not driven by some grand technological innovation of his own, just an expense for more and more server capacity to keep them running and marginally monitored. The ego trip's all in the numbers: kind of like putting several weeks' garbage in your back yard to see how many more flies you can attract to your yard in comparison to your neighbors....

You'll know when that happens because my posts will be not be able to be deleted and even an exorcist will not have the ability to make them go away. Seriously, as long as the caliber of the moderators here remains at the level of the present ones, and the intelligence and enthusiasm of the bloggers remains high, this will ALWAYS be a great place. The difference will be that in 3010, the bloggers will be discussing the performance of Leothlyn A’Zendth in his vintage portrayal of Calstenoux’s Monster filmed in 2058 compared to Nikarek Smith’s more classic portrayal of said monster from 2032. Smith, of course, being responsible for the revival of the Count Frankenhousen cycle of the late ‘20s, which revealed to the world the utter artistry of the Frankenhousen films from Mexico in the 1960s. Karloff will then be on the 5-dollar bill and Lugosi on the 20. Huntz Hall on the 10. The one-dollar bill will have George Washington as usual. Inhabitants of that time, however, will be living in fear because the internet will be just about used up due to the thread on the tabonga taking up too much space over all those years.
