Will still be close to 100 in half of the country at least the next few days. I remember being so impressed with this DVD when I first saw it in its widescreen enhanced glory, the first time I'd seen the film full scope. The cluttered newsroom sets are really nice and active eye candy. But now all these years later I'm spoiled by Blu ray and this is a title I'd REALLY like to see upgraded. Projected large this one feels pretty "video" now. Still, a favorite film to be sure. SAM33

SAM33 First time I ever saw THE DAY THE EARTH CAUGHT FIRE was at a screening at the American Cinematheque in Hollywood back in July of 2001. Director Val Guest was there that night and I remember the audience gave him a standing ovation after the film. It remains one of my favorite science fiction movies and it would be nice to see the movie on a Blu ray or screened in 35mm again.
