Thanks for that info! Not only do I like BWB aka NIGHT OF THE EAGLE but when I checked out the amazon listing I was amazed to see in the "customers also bought" section ASSAULT; I've been after this for years and was unaware it had recently been released on DVD.

And it seems REVENGE has been released as well, though amazon.co.uk for some reason doesn't appear to carry it. A good time for us Sidney Hayers admirers; now all we need is the superb PAYROLL to make an appearance on DVD!
With these releases and the recent reissue of HELL DRIVERS, things are looking much healthier as far as the availability of my British cinema favourites are concerned. Curiously, the classic ROBBERY is still AWOL along with some other Stanley Baker's such as SANDS OF THE KALAHARI, THE LAST GRENADE and INNOCENT BYSTANDERS. Sorry for steering away from horror/sci-fi for a minute there! |

You betcha. Haven't seen PAYROLL since it last aired on WOR-TV's foreign film showcase, The Big Picture, but it remains etched in memory as a marvelously gritty crime thriller. What sticks with me most is Michael Craig's portrayal of an utterly vicious thug (a real one-eighty from his stalwart hero in MYSTERIOUS ISLAND), and I also have vivid recollections of Billie Whitelaw in avenging angel mode and Reg Owen's pounding jazz score. |

Hey guys! I have actually read the exact opposite (I believe from dvdtimes.com) that the disc will be anamorphic widescreen. I too have ordered it and according to my tracking confirmation, should arrive in exactly one week. If I get mine before yours Prof, I will update you.

Hey Koukol! I would classify it as a "supernatural thriller" (about witchcraft and voodoo) that leaves the supernatural elements ambiguous. It's actually an adaptation of Fritz Lieber's "Conjure Wife" that was filmed earlier as part of Universal's "Inner Sanctum" series as "Weird Woman" (1943) starring Lon Chaney Jr. and Anne Gwynne.

Well, I just got my copy and it DOES say 16:9 aspect ratio on the back of the box. Can't double check by playing it, because it's R2 and this Mac at work isn't region-hacked... but things look good! Also got The Sorcerors for something like 2.5 pounds!
