BTW, here is a link to "It Came From Hollywood" from 1982 (2 years after Medved's "Golden Turkey Awards"). This was my first introduction to TCT. Watch for Gilda Radner's comments around 2:50. Classic stuff! Notice that there is some additional reaction shots of dance hall patrons (from all the TERROR), indicating that the 85min long cut likely exists.

There is a lot of myths surrounding TCT that seem to be repeated by a lot of books and websites. I think any research needs to answer these myths on why they are accurate or inaccurate, so that there is a citable resource for things like wikipedia. Here are some of the myths I can think of seeing in printed sources or online off the top of my head:

1. TCT is filmed in Lake Tahoe (myth-it was filmed in Los Angeles County for the studio shots, and in Simi Valley for the outdoor shots)
2. TCT was scripted to be filmed in Lake Tahoe by Robert Siliphant but filmed elsewhere (unknown, sounds reasonable, need a source)
3. TCT is a silent movie with only a narrator because the soundtrack was lost (myth-there are scenes with dialog, and even scenes with a mixture of actor dialog and narator)
4. TCT was filmed without sound because the sound equipment was lost in Lake Tahoe (myth - see #1 and #3)
5. TCT used a narrator because Art J. Nelson was unable to align the sound track with the film frames (unknown, some of the dialog is in in sync with the actor, so I don't know on this)
6. The original monster suit was stolen before filming and a poor substitute was built (myth - Lackey confirmed in Brian's interview that the suit appeared in the film, and a 2nd suit was constructed after he left, the presence of clam-head and shovel/gumby-head in the film seems to confirm this)
7. Art Nelson charged people $100 to appear in the movie and that is why so many people are eaten (unknown, this may have been true only of the dance hall scene, which was probably shot towards the end)
8. Art Nelson left town and William Thourlby finished the film (unknown, but Nelson is credited as editor, and Thourlby said in another interview that he shot extra footage and added it to the movie)
9. Art/Argyle Nelson went on to be an accomplished film editor including The Greatest Story Ever Told (myth - Arthur/Argyle Nelson Jr. was a completely different person as documented on IMDB)
10. Art Nelson used the name of Argyle Nelson, an accomplished editor, to help sell it to investors (myth - Argyle Nelson didn't start his editing career until 1965 with The Greatest Story Ever Told, and Bradley White was using the name Arthur on Street Fighter)
11. Art Nelson used Robert Siliphant's connection to his half-brother, an accomplished screenwriter, to help sell it to investors (possible)
