If it doesn't exist, then lets get to the question at hand.."What's Your Favorite Holmes Movie?" be it Rathbone or Brett, Downey jr or any one of a hundred other films starring the great Detective. Here's mine: "Murder By Decree" - Christopher Plummer, James Mason Holmes vs Jack The Ripper A great mystery full of plot twists and drama. I loved it.

I love the atmosphere in MURDER.

Great atmosphere in both, and I love the fact that Scarlet Claw takes place in my native country, "Canada... that great jewel in Victoria's Crown"... or something like that! Apr 21 10 2:16 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	For me, it's a dead heat between the two Fox films, with the edge going to ADVENTURES OF SHERLOCK HOLMES. First and foremost, it has my favourite Moriarty. The magnificent George Zucco. Second, it has Ida Lupino as a "Damsel in Distress". IDA? That she carries it off so well is a tribute to her brilliance. What an Irene Adler she would have been. With regards to George. He was absolutely perfect as the Victorian gentleman with more than a few screws loose. What was so great were the layers of character we were permitted to see. Mr. 'Z's Moriarty was handsome, cultured and brilliant. He could make his way through society without being harrassed. Holmes, of course, knew all this, and was completely frustrated. He couldn't do a damned thing about it, because no one would believe him. I love ADVENTURES, because the two characters are different sides of the same coin...intellectual equals. Henry Daniell probably came the closest to Zucco, but the rest of WOMAN IN GREEN was pretty lame. THE SECRET WEAPON was much more fun, and Atwill was great, but he was STILL Atwill. He did his utmost, but was more than happy to just be working at all. My favourite scene is when Zucco's Moriarty chastises a manservant for "the murder of a flower". He says that he was imprisoned for merely killing A MAN, but that the servant had killed A FLOWER.... Scared the stew out of me. Elisabeth Your Signature ... "....I do hope he won't upset Henry..."

Apr 24 10 1:43 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I like the Hammer version of- The Hound of the Baskervilles, up until when the hound is presented. Boy, if they had CGI then! I have several that I like with Rathbone. Those being, The Adventures of, The Scarlet Claw and The House of Fear (I like the inverted Agatha Christie story). I recently watched (after not seeing it for many years) A Study In Terror, with John Neville. I like Neville a lot. It's too bad he didn't continue with more S.H. tales, starring Him.

Being a decade older, he seemed even more Holmesian with the addition of a few more lines to his face. I agree, a shame that the proposed sequel THE TRAIN THAT DISAPPEARED never happened.
