Erin, the receptionist is dating the branch's corporate supervisor, Gabe, and the couple determines which movies to watch by playing Scrabble online. Erin would rather watch popular animated films such as Shrek, but because she's a dumbbell and continuously loses the game, she's had to endure The Shining and The Ring instead. Two of the staff try to help Erin win on the sly, but she loses anyway. It was a hip name to drop in the middle 1980's. I equate it to Pink Floyd. We all know those people who at some point in their teens or early twenties discover Pink Floyd. They think they are on to something so cool. They work it into every conversation, have deep meaningful insights and know useless facts about the sax solo in The Gunners Dream.... Meanwhile it just the same boring bloated rock band that every 19 years old for 40 years has "discovered". Argento is the horror movie version of that.

Not to get off the subject though I already have....I purchased the very first Pink Floyd album PIPER AT THE GATES OF DAWN the very first day in was released in NYC. Had no idea who these guyz were but thought the cover was sooo cool.I hated it! Took me another 25 years to learn to appreciate.... Now I wonder if it will take another 25 years for me to appreciate MOTHER OF TEARS.pu "You can't smell any reefer, can you"?

Back then it was a tight quartet with strange songs, sparked by composer-guitarist Syd Barrett, who wrote their early hit "See Emily Play." He left the band early on, and his very interesting version of PF has little to do with the bloated band that most people remember today.

Haven't gotten it yet but it's on my Amazon list.

It's kinda boring, but there are interesting things about even that. But certainly ANY band bringing in the kind of money they were and spending as much as they were on production, on the eve of punk no less, could be considered bloated. And re: the bloated movie analogy. If you can compare it to anything, I'd say it would be the mainstream studio-produced horror of the 70's- when horror movies like The Exorcist and The Shining and The Omen became awards fodder. And I love those movies, too. Well, maybe not The Omen. It's derivative and kinda stupid. But Suspiria is not a mainstream Hollywood film. I'd consider this an independent release. Mainstream America certainly didn't give it the reputation those bigger-budget films received. And Argento isn't exactly a house-hold name. If he's know for anything, it's Suspiria. I'd say The Office reference is more indicative of nerd culture conquering Hollywood. The same culture that keeps 'rebooting' tried and true nerd properties to increasingly diminishing returns.
