Mar 10 10 9:59 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I CAN"T be the only one here who likes some of these old instrumentals that used to be heard in department stores, dentist's offices and, yes ELEVATORS! I ran across this number, having not heard it for maybe 20 years. But I immediately remembered it. I think this one was also heard on those "Technical Difficulties/Please Stand By" tv segments, whenever the tv channel would disappear for a few minutes. I mean, I'd search easy listening stuff, but could never find this specific music. This is the kind of stuff in the old Huckleberry Hound/Yogi Bear cartoons. Is that a real cd release?

I do have "Happy Go Lively" on a CD called "Music for TV Dinners", which is unfortunately out of print now and sells for megabucks on Amazon. I remember hearing this stuff and some ultra-lush Montovani arrangements piped over the intercoms in JC Pennys in the late '60s. All this so-called elevator music --which we kids derided because we were too cool to ever like it back then -- now seems downright comforting. A blast from the past.

I never knew that when stores had this music playing, it was called "storecasting". http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beautiful_music Are there any satellite stations that play this old stuff? And does anyone here remember WPAT from Paterson, NJ? This is the one I used to listen to way back when.

I've loved Kaempfert since way back before I even knew what genre he belonged to. All fans of these interrelated genres should definitely check out the "Ultralounge" series of CDs ... lotsa great stuff!

Mar 10 10 11:35 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I hated it, HATED it when XM Radio discontinued their "On the Rocks" channel ... it was totally devoted to the exotica-lounge-space age genres, and was my favorite channel in their lineup. They still have "Escape," which is a nice easy listening channel with artists like Frank Chacksfield and Paul Mauriat and an occasional Kaempfert number, but it seldom ever veers into the Les Baxter - Martin Denny - Arthur Lyman - Yma Sumac territory that was the main course of On the Rocks.
