May 8 10 10:49 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	A lot of argument has been made for the very plausible "Dog in the Night-time" as reverse-confirmation that it DID happen. Exposing the Apollo landing (or landings) as a fake would have been the most stupendous propaganda coup the Soviet Union ever could have wished for. That it did not happen is a sign to me that it was real. Pravda and Isvestia certainly had field days with every other wrong step made by the West, including the JFK assassination, assigning it early on to rightwingers rather than the pseudo-socialist fall guy. There was also no reason that, had it been dummied up, anyone would have produced such crappy imagery. The live shots from the Moon were about as awful as the first image of Feliz the Cat in 1927. I sincerely doubt a "fake" would have looked that miserable. Intentionally degraded for verisimilitude perhaps, but not as overexposed and ghost-y as this. Frankly, I don't credit the intelligence community with enough imagination to come up with a fake like this. Kubrick... well, okay, maybe him. (That mockumentary is hysterical, btw.)

The original signal was apparently bounced around via Australia or something, needing to be transformed from PAL or SECAM to NTSC standards. I saw it live, and it seemed to be very poor picture quality-- far less distinct than the frame grabs above. Assuming you're leaning toward a "They faked it" scenario, which one, bobtheman? Beating the Russians at a propaganda win? Greed & billions of dollars to the space/rocket industry? Evidence of aliens on the Moon and trying to cover it up? I wonder if some of these paranoid bozos deny that World War II happened. Maybe we just had a little disagreement with Germany and Japan over import duties on Dresden porcelain and cheap paper fans.

Simpson was framed for the murders because he knew the "truth" after appearing in CAPRICORN ONE! Of course, CAPRICORN ONE was about a faked Mars landing, and not about the moon, but conspiracy theorists never let facts get in the way.

Some wiseguy later took into consideration the motives of Nazi rocket technology and suggested the book shoulld be retitled: I aim for the Stars, but Keep Hitting London, a satirical reference to the damage and destruction wrought by the V2 missiles near the end of WW2. Back to the Moon Landing: the extensive BBC live coverage recordings were criminally wiped over permanently, in another blundering shortsighted move of archive abuse. Also, one of the Moon Landings [live TV coverage in Britain] was trumped in the ratings by...........The Benny Hill Show! I do, however, have vivid memories of one of the Appollo missions going disastrously wrong, with one of the re-entry capsules burning up or something, with forboding news of dead astronauts........there was lots of live satellite TV coverage of the stricken capsule out at sea. Stirring stuff. Maybe someone more knowledge on Lunar subjects than I can pinpoint this tragic event. 'the horror..............THE HORROR!' Mar 22 11 2:22 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Skull, you might be thinking of Apollo 13 - but their dire problems (which the entire crew survived) were after an on-board explosion during their aborted trip to the Moon, not upon at-sea reentry. And the only deaths during the program were not during a mission at all, but rather during a grounded training session of Apollo 1. There, astronauts Grissom, Chaffee, and White were indeed burned to death by an electrical fire that was fueled by their pure-oxygen environment - but that was on the launching pad. -Craig
