One of the first genre spoofs (if not the first?) of slasher films, that isn't really good or really bad, but interesting to watch due to the name actors that show up for various periods of time. George Clooney, for example, has a brief appearance. But Vince Edwards, Alex Rocco, and Maureen McCormick stick around, off and on, through much of the film.
The actual idea is pretty clever -- make a low-budget horror movie about a five-year-old high school massacre that misleads the viewer as to which is a filmed sequence and which is the real return of the killer. Unfortunately, the screenplay's humor is played too broad and matter-of-factly to be very amusing, and Bill Froehlich's direction is quite pedestrian. Both the imdb reviewer and I found the killer's mask to be very similar to the now-classic Halloween mask used in Scream (1996), and wonder if Kevin Williamson or Wes Craven watched this.
I'm catching up on some of the 80s slasher films I've never seen. This is the first. I have something called Slaughter High (1986) coming up soon.
