This is one of my favorite films Vinnie ever did. The lack of polish compared to a lot of the 60's gothic stuff he was in has been mentioned, but for me that increases it. The squalid nature of the abandoned theatre, and all the crazy hobos that are his audience really add to the feeling of an artist that's fallen out of society into a dirty little pocket of disrepair to complete his descent into madness. A lot of the meth drinkers remind me of crazy homeless people at the free lunch I used to go to sometimes when I was really poor. I love all the scenes where he's wearing the stage makeup, that's just a really cool visual to me.

This is a weird story, but I don't know where else I'd mention it, so bear with me. I had this dream a few years back that I was drinking tea with Vincent Price on the porch of a house during an extremely pleasant spring day. The street the house was on exists in the city I live in, but I was unfamiliar with the house. But while we were talking, there was a group of people kind of tumbling around and laughing in the front yard, clowning it up. They looked like the meth drinkers, but acted more like the Merry Pranksters from the Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test. Vinnie looked over everything with a very pleasant, satisfied manner. He was extremely polite, and a gracious host and conversationalist. I got the distinct feeling he liked eccentric people, and enjoyed their company. We talked for a long time. There was a vivid quality to this dream, and it just felt different from any dream I ever had. I know you'll have to go out on a pretty far limb here, but I always felt like I might have reached out and somehow talked to the spirit of Mr. Price. Either way, it's the closest I'll ever come to talking to him.
