05/19/13 2:22 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	SPOILERS I came close to really liking the finale. I thought the idea of the conference call happening across time was very cool. And the idea of the Doctor being forced to visit his own grave was certainly intriguing, although I think Matt Smith is better at the light weight stuff, not so great at despair and gloom. But by the end, as seems to be the custom now, momentous things start happening that hardly seem to make any sense. Maybe it's my fault that I don't really understand who the Great Intelligence is or what he wants. Then we're told how calamitous it will be for anyone to jump into the Doctor's time stream thingy. Which means of course that nearly everybody available will end up jumping into it, as a result of which the universe will be pretty much destroyed ... and then restored. If saving the universe, or your current favorite companion, is no more complicated than pressing ALT-CTRL-DEL, than what does anything really matter?

But then I realized that Smith had apparently entered his full timeline, so perhaps he now knows all his future incarnations. If I were betting I'd still wager on a past Doctor. 05/19/13 3:23 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I know he's not canonical but it would have been cool for them to somehow shoehorn Peter Cushing into the mix of past Doctors with this being his centennial as well. I've been pretty blah about this show this season, but the last 4 episodes have been quite good I think.

05/19/13 8:56 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Well, I've not had a chance to actually watch the episode instead of just a few glimpes, so forget my "Clara as Watcher" argument. I did like how Clara's clothes changed to fit the mood of each era she was falling into. As for Hurt, I thought it was fairly obvious that this was the Valeyard, but evidently my conclusion may not be the same as everyone else. Heh. After all the Valeyard IS the Doctor. (And as the Doctor he WILL die at some point. So are we heading towards another "Yes the Doctor dies, but he doesn't REALLY die" result here?) After all we know the Valeyard survived the end of the Trial for the Sixth Doctor. There were hints of his coming in Amy's Choice a while back. I'm still inclined to believe it's him. But we'll see, I guess. We'll see.
