From '60s, Castle Blood and Nightmare Castle (Synapse and Severin, not Alpha). When is The Ghost getting a decent release, dammit.

Well The Ghost is on a double feature with Dead Eyes Of London from Retromedia. At least this version is in correct sequence as opposed to earlier releases. "The world's going to change tonight, doctor, I'm glad you'll be able to watch it. And... happy Halloween."

Another left unmentioned is Argento, Suspiria is one of my faves. I'll have to check out Jess Franco's Vampyros Lesbos. Thanks for all the helpful info. Dave

Franco got rid of all the old gothic trappings (except a candlaubra (sp?)) Almost everything I kove in Gothic Horror was removed.

At the same time, this film has a tremendous atmosphere, and is totally Euro weirdness... Give it 15 minutes, if you aren't hooked, then it's probably not for you!

Jan 19 10 7:52 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I like alot of Franco films but VAMPIROS LESBOS was a letdown for me because Franco "modernized" things like a castle and other trappings that make Gothic Horror my favorite genre. Another example would be replacing bats with birds.

Freda's "The Ghost" was really good too, as well as Margheriti's "The Virgin Of Nuremberg" ("La Vergine Di Norimberga") with Christopher Lee and "Castle Of Blood" ("Danza Macabra") with Barbara Steele. And Mario Caino's "Nightmare Castle", which is dreamy. And which also has Barbara Steele.
