I grabbed the printed out sheet and drove to Round Table. As I exited my car and unfolded the paper, i discovered I had grabbed the wrong print out. At the counter I explained that I grabbed the wrong coupon. "No problem", she said. Today is only Yesterday's Tomorrow.

Jan 12 10 12:13 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Mike, I bet I know what happened. It's happened to me. Some servers just snatch your food and take off with it. That's been rare, but it's happened. But... 99.99% of all servers I've encountered have been pretty good eggs. Usually, if they start out rude or whatever, I turn on my social worker mojo and have them eating out of the palm of my hand. Granted, my friends don't normally like it when a waitress pulls up a chair and tells me her life story, but I feel like it's my dharma to brighten people's days who seem... rude. Like one server we had. She was a total... uh... she was quite rude and nasty. By the end, she was crying and telling me about her husband of 20 years dying, her recent diagnosis of terminal ovarian cancer, and her daughter getting beat up regularly by a boyfriend. The dinner ended with free dessert and hugs. I hope to run into her again and see how she's doing. You just never know what's going on in someone's life.

I was just sitting there, talking to a friend, with half a sandwich (actually a cheeseburger, if you care to be exact) on my plate when she grabbed the plate and walked away with it without a word. I was so surprised she was gone before I could react. On the other hand, I was having breakfast with a friend once and she ordered eggs, being very specific that they should not be underdone, and when the eggs arrived they were barely cooked at all. My friend turned green and refused to touch them but also refused to say anything, being almost terminally shy. The waitress overheard, looked at the plate, and said "You wanted those eggs well done! Those aren't what you asked for, I'm taking them back!" and over my friends protestations took the food back to the kitchen and insisted it be done right this time. So you meet all kinds. By the way, the tip I left was twice what the breakfast cost.

I had one at a Moroccan restaurant in Manhattan that was like an episode of Seinfeld.

Since were on a dining out roll, here's another one of mine. So many restaurants now have almost every corner plastered with big and small flat screen TVs. That doesn't bother me, I like to watch TV when I eat, but does EVERY set have to be tuned into a sports channel? Christ, you got like 20 TVs on display, couldn't you have just one tuned into a All-News station or something? Not every customer is a sports junkie ya know. Sheesh! Cromwell
