Jan 28 09 10:52 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Maybe that was true to contract player of the '40s and '50s who had to keep up an image And not untrue today. I haven't encountered this situation, but I work almost entirely in the theatre. I know a guy who's made a pretty good career in guest shots on TV shows. He'd love to get into movies, but is never offered his TV "rate" for movie work. According to him, if he accepts less--even once--the word is out and his rate goes down.

Feb 2 09 9:59 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	One thing I like about this movie is the soundtrack comprised of music cues from the "Capitol Hi-Q" production library (some of the same stuff used in "Teenagers from Outer Space"). And one gets to hear some decent stretches of this music as the characters wander through the caves, which they do an awful lot in this picture. Unfortunately the sound on my copy of "Incredible Petrified World" (from a Treeline 50-movie dvd set) has a lot of flutter. If anyone here has the Something Weird dvd, how's the sound quality on that edition? Regarding the stock footage of the shark and octopus battle: wasn't that the same footage featured in "Beast from 20,000 Fathoms" and "Bride of the Monster"?

Jul 19 09 1:05 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Just got this one from Netflix, and couldn't get into it at all. John Carridine was doing his best, but the story was just bland. Plus, it didn't help that the director told as much of the bland story as he could with master shots. It was like watching an early "Show of Shows" sketch in that way. The actors, not to be outdone by the bland story and the static unchanging cinematography, adopted a similarly bland monotone in their deliveries. In all... a waste of about an hour and 15 minutes. (And you know it's really, really bad, when you put it on during a blah Sunday afternoon, when nothing else in on TV, and you just want to FFwd through it all...) "[The audiance] will populate the darkness with more horrors than all the horror writers in Hollywood could think of. Jul 19 09 9:06 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	This film has one little novelty going for it - it has a lizard that's not supposed to be anything EXCEPT a lizard. Of course, that makes the woman's reaction to it a little odd, but it's still original to see a lizard that isn't a "slurpasaur," which also means none of the real-life violence associated with them. It also means no one in the audience chokes on hearing an actor say "Look - a Tyrannosaurus Rex!"

Jul 21 10 8:44 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I just watched this one last night for the first time and I'm afraid to say that I actually thought it wasn't that bad. Well, as bad as its reputation. The last part of it jumped around quite a bit, like pieces to the story were missing, but before that the film was coherent and while there was not alot of action, I was interested enough to care about what might happen next; of course, all I got was the standard lost world destroyed by volcano ending. I think Carradine, Coates, Clark and especially Noonan/Carol did a fairly good job with what they had. There is something about Noonan/Carol that is very appealing, besides her looks, of course. Its to bad she didn't do more work.

May 19 12 3:29 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	It's not too bad, treat as a standard "people trapped in a cave" rather than any sort of sci-fi and you'll do ok. The shark vs octopus footage is in the 1936 Flash Gordon as well.
