Mar 27 12 6:05 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I watched about 20 minutes (till the Spirit and his Girl thing started) and I just did not get it, two invulnerable guys beating the hell out of each other, without doing any damage creates no suspense/worthwhile conflict/audience involvement whatsoever. After that I was not interested enough to watch the rest. I like virtually all the Eisners I've read. Mar 28 12 1:30 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I haven't read through all 10 pages of this and don't remember if I ever commented on it here before. I did say this before elsewhere: There's a book (EISNER/MILLER) that is a whole conversation between Eisner and Miller and essentially Eisner chides Miller the whole time for (outside of a few exceptions) having no idea how to produce real character in his work. That he just has one action set-piece after another and that it doesn't work to just have such glib elements slapped together. I honestly think that the movie THE SPIRIT is Miller's attempt to get back at Eisner by taking a character so built up on nuance and subtlety and having the drama and the action in the right places, and Millerizing it into a big stupid action fest full of lamebrain dialog and insultingly stupid characters and childish storylines. I really and truly think Miller was trying his best to spit on Eisner's grave. Miller even had the audacity to put his crappy sketches in the closing credits instead of anything by Eisner himself. I knew it was going to be bad so never bothered to pay to see it. It was finally on TV the other night and I was right, it's utter garbage. I was totally disgusted. Usually I don't really care, a movie is a movie and so what. But this is Eisner's legacy Miller is monkeying with. I hope that if I ever get famous and have a trademark character, that when I die no one does to my legacy what Miller has done to Eisner. -Shonokin The Pulp Reader
