Letters/Editorials
Lamoreux, Doug (Special K Winner)--FM161, p.76. (I decided at the last minute to stick this molecule of trivia in. Wanna know any film characters, actors/actresses, or moviemakers whose name starts with the letter K? [yeah--i thot someone out there would]. Well, Doug listed 348).
Leahy, Ed (Lon Chaney Is Dead--?!)--FM16, p.4. (I like this letter and quote verbatim: "Let's get something straight: Lon Chaney is dead and why don't you leave him stay that way?" Nuff said...).
Leeds, Ron (The Most Horrifying Article We've Ever Printed)-- FM130,pgs.39-43. (You won't find this letter in Fangmail dear friends. Oh no. This letter merited its own space, page after page, within FM as well as its own
highlighted caption on the front cover. You might think me jumping some- what overboard, but here I scream MENTAL ABUSE! where the scars of the brain fester and never heal. Even after 15 years, I still get mad when I read this letter. It's a true horror story in its own right).
Lev, A. Dr. (Girl Monster)--FM2, p.7. (Letter and editorial comment discussing Phyllis Farkas as the brain storm for FM).
Long, Bob (Sees Red)--FM21, p.4. ("If you tell your readers that Lon Chaney movies are some sort of art, and that it takes great talent to stagger around with a hideous face and twisted figure, then I really believe your magazine could be Communist inspired." End of quote, comrades).
Lucas, Edwin (Worried Fan)--FM38, p.70. ("What is the world of horror films, actors & fans coming to?" Forry replies.).
Lupoff, Dick (They Hate Us)--FM2, p.6. (Letter and editorial comment denoting FM as Ackerman's Folly). (Opinion Of An Expert)--MW2, p.50. (Richard seems to have come a long way since that first letter published in FM2).

Mack, Paul (For Screaming Out Loud)--FM115, p.4. (For those of you with enquiring minds, Paul took the time to count how many times Fay Wray screamed in KING KONG. [Holy mackerel!]).
Maloney, M. P. (Terror On Television)--FM88, p.4. (I never realized Forry was on the Merv Griffin Show with Glenn Strange, Vincent Price, and John Carradine).
Marlpe, Pamela (Typical Of Thousands)--MW1, p.6. (Forry and Pamela discuss the passing of Peter Lorre).
Maronie, Samuel James (This Reader Is Positively Not A Relative Of Ye Ed)--FM120.p.4. (Sam defends Forry's museum).
Martel, James (Better Dead Than Read)--FM180, p.4. (FORRY ISN'T DEAD?! WHO SAYS SO?! Master Martel must've gotten up on the wrong side of the bed, implying that our lifeless leader should retire and draw unemployment [i've seen 4e draw and suffice it to say he should stick to writing]. Our "egotistical, noriety-seeking, name-dropping" deaditor translates from the grave).
McLean, Jonathan (Dear Editor)--MW5, p.48. (Forry tries to remember the first motion picture he ever saw [i don't think they had them back in those days Jonathan...wait a minute... wasn't the motion picture invented by Forry J Ackison?]).
Morris, Chester Keith--FM109, p.4. (Chester didn't care for the Horror Hall Of Fame on ABC. I don't think Forry did either).
Myers, June (Tammy's Touching Memorial)--FM120, p.81. (June was touched by the article written by Tammy, and requests her address. Forry has to inform her, and us as well, of Tammy's passing. Very touching). *For more info regarding Tammy, see Forrest J Ackerman, Famous Monster Of Filmland, Vol. 2.
NAME WITHHELD AT EDITORIAL DISCRETION--(A Fan In Need)--FM117, p.65. (Name Withheld's parents, Mr. & Mrs. Name Withheld, do not like their son reading FM and hit the ceiling when they happened across an issue. Uncle Forry advises).
Obbagy, Bill (Bill Sounds Off)--FM9, p.6. (Letter and editorial comment covering everything from Bela to Zacherley).
Olson, Don (Chaney (SR) Surprises...O'Brien Too!)--FM12, p.6. (Letter adding to the list of Chaney movies printed in FM8. Also, info about Willis O'Brien pics).
O'Toole, Bob (A Letter We Dared Not Print)--FM18, p.4. (Bob brings more colorful adjectives into the realm of "you're magazine stinks and I'll never buy another one!" type of constructive criticism we grew to know and love over the years.).
Palmer, Randy (Open Letter To "Mr. Monster" Leeds)--FM131, p.4. (Randy replies to Ron Leeds letter from FM130).
Paul, George (Ex-Expert)--SM4,pgs.4,6. (George adds to an earlier article concerning robots. Some interesting tidbits about tinmitts).
Petit, Trina (Queena Trina)--FM6, p.7. (Letter and pic from the future "Brigitte Bardot."). --FM11, p.6.
Poole, Eileen (Zacherley)--FM4, p.6 (Comment concerning Zach's Movement to New York's Shock Theater).
Proyas, Alex (Capsule Comments)--FM145, p.73. (Anyone out there ever heard the term SCI-FI? Alex doesn't like it and wants to know why Forry uses it.).
Priode, Kyle (That's Incredible)--FM187, p.65. (Kyle says he saw the original suit Lon Chaney Sr. wore in the PHANTOM OF THE OPERA. Supposedly, it was auctioned two weeks after he saw it).
Dec 21 09 4:20 PM
Robinson, Jack (A Poor Deluded Soul)--FM19, p.6. (Egoboos praising FM, SM, and the article on INVASION OF THE BODY SNATCHERS).
Robbins, Bruce (The Attack Of The Ackermaniac)--FM15, p.4. (Letter questioning Forry's mental faculties because of his full time pursuit of science fiction and horror movies).
Roden, Michael (Old Tyme Reader)--FM191, p.4. (It is only fitting that this last issue of FM would have a letter from someone, namely Michael, that had been with them for twenty-five years. Egoboos for FM).
Rowland, David (Editor Admonished)--FM33,pgs.6,78. (Condemnation of the Peter Lorre tribute poem Forry wrote for FM29).
Russell, Marc A. (The Return Of Russell)--MW3, p.6. (Talk about Oswald Rabbit and King Kong).
Salerno, Roger (Dept. Of "Psycho" Analyzing Robt. Bloch)-- FM19, p.4. (Reply to Bloch's article "Clown At Midnight").
Savage, Mark (Pro-Gore)--FM176, p.4. (At this time in the life of Fang Mail, the great debate is gore or non-gore. This letter typifies the defense of movies like DAWN OF THE DEAD, MARTIN, FRIDAY THE 13th, etc.).
Sheffield, Dick (The Stepson Of Dracula)--FM3, p.6. (Letter and editorial comment concerning Bela Lugosi).
Sholly, Fred Von (What Makes Dina Sore?)--FM9, p.7. (Letter and editorial comment concerning the "first mistake that I ever found and I want to make it known" type [I like STOMPFLATOSAURUS much better]).
Shomo, Michael (Capsule Comments)--FM145, p.73. (Mike asks the question that's plagued FM reader's for centuries: Why is there a picture of the Ackermonster in every issue of FM? Photo-phorry answers us all...).
Smith, John Mago (Letter Of The Month)--FM155, p.4. (An avid 72- year-old FM fan has two heart attacks, almost dies twice, and Forry makes his day).
Statton (Slop-Happy Forry)--FM166, p.73. (Now that everything else concerning FM and Forry has been "critiqued," so to speak [and i'm trying to be nice here], Statton believes Forry has the worst handwriting. Forry is left holding the pen).
Stone, Henrietta (Shame On Forry)--FM156, p.4. (Disgrace with the obits. Forry clarifies).
Stuart, Mary (A Monster In The Fright House--Er, White House)-- FM125, p.4. (Mary and other members of the Creature Party want to enter Forry as possible presidential candidate in the upcoming 1976 race).
Sutton, Suzzette (Leeds' Bad Deeds)--FM133, p.73. (Another in reponse to Ron Leeds letter of FM130).
Dec 21 09 4:23 PM
Taylor, Frank (Son Of Doubting Thomas)--FM24,pgs.4,6,7. (In regards to the letter from Sam Thorpe, this letter from Frank may very well be one of the shortest printed, but did it ever trigger Forry's typewriter! The letter goes as follows: "How can you prove you were the first filmonster magazine? Another horror movie magazine says you only think you were first." Forry's response regarding Calvin Thomas Beck and his Castle Of Frankenstein is priceless). --(Castle Of Frankenstein Revisited)--FM26,pgs.72,76. (Forry continues where he left off in FM24).
Thorpe, Bob (Taken To Task, But Not Guilty)--FM176, p.73. (Bob is an unhappy camper in Fangmail campground because of FM's reporting on new films without having seen them. Forry, part-time editor of NOOSEWEAK Magazine, slips out of the knot).
Thorpe, Sam (Carnivorous Correspondence, Or, A Meaty Letter)-- FM24,pgs.4,6,7. (This could possibly be one of the longest letters FM published, apparently spawned by the "Dante's Inferno" article. He goes as far to "entreat" us to boycott Herman Cohen films).
Traube, Kevin (Editor Lying?)--FM111, p.97. (Bela Lugosi's Dracula Cape(s) is (are) alive and well and living in the museum that Forry built).
Vick, Benny (Telephone Call To The Haunted Castle)--FM17, p.6. (Benny shares his phone conversation with Bill Castle).
Warchild (Anti-Foreign Films)--FM144, p.4. (Warchild is upset because of the foreign film stills in FM. "Foreign-Forry" speaks!).
Warren, Dexter (Space Buster)--SM6, p.6. (Who is Sam Sherman? Where can Dexter get one of those original Buck Roger's Space Guns? Forry shoots off).
Weed, Don (Interesting Info)--FM17, p.7. (Don adds to the robot movie checklist with a couple of silents).
Westcott, D. (Smoked Out Of The Time Vault)--SM6, p.4. (D. discusses the "World Of Tomorrow" foto-card series, and believes Forry created the term "Sci-Fi." Forry dollops).
Woods, Robert (The Clown At Mud Night)--FM20, p.6. (Another response to Robert Bloch's earlier articles concerning horror).
Y. Sandra (Our Greatest Pan Letter)--FM15, p.6. (This letter had a lot of "censored" words in it and it appears that Sandra Y. was thoroughly disturbed with her purchase of FM. Oh well...she dared them to print it...).
Yakey, Wm. (Treasures From The Time Vault)--SM5, p.4. (William shares with us some rare cards that were issued with packs of cigarettes from around 1935. The cards originated in England and were found in Mitchell's Cigarettes. Forry clues us to whom the artists were).
Ziers, Rick (Kong Curiosity)--FM148, p.4. (Rick makes a curious find in the still of the censored spider way back in FM108 [and before that, newcomers]. Forry tells what it is).
