Mar 17 06 11:09 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Lots of great suggestions - I agree especially on Dana Wynter, Yvette Vickers and a few others - but can't resist giving props to Miss Wynter's co-star in INVASION OF THE BODY SNATCHERS: And poor Phyllis Kirk having the chore of trying to get her into that corset in HOUSE OF WAX. Also I think Barboura Morris - from A BUCKET OF BLOOD, WASP WOMAN, etc. has a really unusual relaxed sexiness that you just don't get in a lot of fifties actresses. Or maybe it's just the beatnik thing...

She didn't have to try too hard....she just was. She also didn't get too worked up over any monsters that came her way, none of those screaming hysterics, pretty level headed, concerned but casual. If you have Photoshop, Paint, MS Photoeditor, or probably any other graphics program, there should be a re-sizing function, which you'd do before you go to ImageShack. Just make a copy of whatever at, say, 75% or 45%, whatever size keeps the essential elements of the picture visible. A jpeg file will load faster in Imageshack and on the board you're going to put it on (but then, those hi-techies with DSL don't concern themselves with things like that...) Regarding Imageshack (a great thing, of course), when the picture has uploaded, if you want to stick with the thumbnail method, go down to the last url listed (thumbnail) and select that address, then paste it into the image box on the left as you did before. If that doesn't work (I'm open to corrections), just paste the address right in the text box. One of these methods works for me... except with that Spooks Run Wild picture elsewhere, which I still can't see.

I tried the thumbnail trick you outlined, but it looks like ezboards doesn't like urls much; through much trial and error (mainly error), my options seem to be either: a.) a full-sized image b.) a non-clickable miniature image (to God, there is no zero...Julie still exists) c.) no image at all (the dreaded little box with the red x, clearly a Tong symbol, meant to intimidate) d.) a message stating that "Illegal javascript event tags or url parameters detected" --which makes sense, seeing that I'm suddenly in manacles and striped pajamas after clicking the "preview" button (isn't that how Karloff ended up in THE CRIMINAL CODE?)

I went through the same rigamarole when I started (a series of 1910 Franklenstein photos over on Silents), but dinally figured it out. The thumbnail thing I only just got the kinda-hang-of. She's even nice in King Creole playing an older gun moll. Not an obvious knock-out, but she has a certain Euro-, intellectual-sexiness that I really like. And she was more of a character actress that also makes me think she was more intelligent (hey, to me intelligence is sexy). And those eyes! She died much too young (in her early 50's, I believe).

Whenever I hear the term, "making the most out of a small part", I immediately think of her character in HOUSE OF WAX. One non-genre film that Jones was apparently exceptional in, that I've long wanted to see (but seemingly is never shown anywhere), is the Delbert Mann/Paddy Chayefsky drama, BACHELOR PARTY (1957); according to whoever wrote the capsule review in Leonard Maltin's guide, she plays a "philosophical nympho".

I hand-colored the 'Fleapit' artwork, using Dr. Martin's dyes, along with some color pencil, over a copy (on Ledger Bond paper) of the ink pen & brush original. Then I shipped the original artwork to Tim & Donna. Donna may have boosted the color a little more, when it was converted to a digital file, though I made it pretty bright to begin with, as Tim's stated intention was to make the first all-color issue of VW an eye-searing, ultra-chromatic phantasmagoria. Which it most certainly was; I'm sure we all still bear similarly extensive corneal scars, a testament to his success in that endeavor. The current issue's new 'Ramsey's Rambles' header artwork differs a bit, in that, while I drew the illo on bristol paper with ink pen & brush, I then scanned it into my computer, and did corrections and all the color digitally in Photoshop 6.0, then e-mailed it to Donna for insertion into the magazine layout. I guess that's more-or-less the normal way things are done in commercial illustration these days, but it was a new experience for me (Donna had to lead me by the hand, as far as properly sizing and e-mailing the art file went). Pretty cool. I still have plenty to learn (as recent events have proved), though.

She was not a great actress,but was so full of fun and life that it was a shock when she was gone. And I liked Barboura Moriss from the Wasp Woman,the girl next door personified. And who also went very young.
