Nov 25 09 11:16 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Try creating another album. Click on the "Images" selection at the very top of the screen and make "New Folder." That should do it. One problem might be that the Blaisdell pictures are "bigger"-- heavier in information, like a "Bitmap" instead of JPEG type. One of those BTM files is equal in size to about 20 or 30 JPEGs, even of the same picture. If that's the problem, go back to the original picture on your computer and "SAVE AS" a JPEG... then re-upload THAT version, and delet the old, big one. ("Big" referring to inforation size rather than dimensions.)

According to both Blaisdell and Forry, yes, that's what the Venusian was supposed to look like originally--and there's a story that when it was built, it STILL looked like that, with the pointy top added after the rest of it was built. But I think Bob Burns says that's not true. For years, Forry had the little maquette or model or whatever the correct term is; it was given back to Blaisdell not long before our visit, so we saw it at both the Ackermansion and at Blaisdell's house. Which, sadly, was kind of falling apart; their refrigerator had fallen through the floor..

They offer a lot more room for pictures, you can save them in various formats, and you can then link that account to your posts with the little "balloon" icon on the toolbar. May I take the liberty of a quick 3-step tutorial? 1) First register by filling out that small box on the right (it's free): 2) Once registered, you'll get a screen like this ~ click the 'my computer' icon at the top right, then click the blue 'Upload images & videos' bar: 3) It'll take you right to your own computer files where you store images. Simply click on one and hit 'open'~ it'll automatically upload the pic to Photobucket. (You can also highlight multiple images at the same time, as I did with the two photobucket images you see displayed below for the post above, then hit 'open' ~ they'll all load in succession, automatically.) And that's it. There are other functions you can access, but you don't need them ~ you're done. To download a photo into your post, simply click the little 'balloon' icon thingy on your CHFB toolbar (I guess it's supposed to be the Photobucket 'camera lens' logo). If you don't see your latest pics displayed there, simply hit the 'refresh' button when the picture display comes up. Easy as Do, Re, Mi.

But I still haven't the foggiest notion of how to tell if a photo I've saved is big, small or inbetween, nor do I know how to make big ones small or small ones big. I simply save with the JPEG available to me on the (small-scale) Photoshop program I have.

Dec 4 09 9:13 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	The rule of thumb is that web photos should be scaled at 72 dpi, meaning that every 72 pixels registers as an inch. So if a picture is 360 pixels wide, it'll show up as five inches on your monitor. Re-sizing/setting the DPI of images should be in your program under "image size". J. Dec 5 09 4:51 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I still haven't the foggiest notion of how to tell if a photo I've saved is big, small or inbetween, An OK sized jpeg like the ones above, something sized for posting on line, will be less than a Megabyte (MB) in size; very often a\only a couple hundred kilobytes (KB). To get a summary of the info about a picture (or for that matter, any file, even a text) position your cursor over the icon. Don't click the icon or hold either button, just let the arrow (or flashing little line) be over the icon. In a moment, a little box will show up with the information: the "name" of the file, the sort of file it is, and the size. Blaisdell 1.bmp 456 KB, etc. nor do I know how to make big ones small or small ones big. On the far left /top of your screen there are a number of menu words: File, Edit, View, etc. Open the picture file in whatever program you use-- Photoshop, Paint, whatever-- and that program's menus should have a Resize feature. If you've got a gigantic picture-- the Blaisdell stuff was pretty big for this board, for example-- enter 50% for the two values (horizontal and vertical)-- then SAVE the new version under an alternate name (like "Blaisdell 1 50 pc" or "Small copy" of "Living room A," whatever.. This will reduce both the actual picture-size and the information of it by half. The first Blaisdell picture, for instance, was initially posted at 1.2 MB, which is a VERY information-heavy picture. That's probably super if the plan is to reproduce it in a book, because there, you NEED a lot of information to make a high-resolution image in printed form. A computer website is far more forgiving and needs far less information for a nice picture. More esoterica: as T/Servo says, 72 dpi (dots per inch) is standard for reproduction on the net. However, 300 dpi is the minimum acceptable for magazine reproduction , or at least GOOD reproduction. And really-really high-end stuff can go into multiples of that.
