Nov 21 09 1:24 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	In the 70's, producer John Dark and director Kevin Conner made 4 fantasy-adventure movies: 2 for Amicus, 1 for AIP, and 1 for Columbia. Three of them were based on stories by Edgar Rice Burroughs, and all of them starred Doug McClure. I have recently finished watching all 4 of them, and they are a lot of fun. Which one is your favorite and why? What was your favorite John Dark/Kevin Connor/ Doug McClure monster movie? Nov 28 09 11:01 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I voted for PEOPLE, because to me that is the most fun... as a kid, I liked LAND best, but I found on rewatching that People is the one I enjoy more. I like them all... well, at least the three I know I've seen. I've never wittingly watched WARLORDS yet, but I'd like to.

Jan 17 10 1:55 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	As bad as they are (in terms of rubber-suited monsters) I quite enjoy the three films Doug McClure made for Amicus. Especially the first one, THE LAND THAT TIME FORGOT, which is almost an excellent ERB movie. The thing about these Amicus films is that sets are really tight, and if an actor moves a hair too far to the left or to the right, he's off the set. Especially in TALES FROM THE CRYPT. I don't know whether I said this on this site or not, but one of my few partial complaints about "Earth's Core" is that (by his standards) Doug McClure is almost "subdued," and this was a movie that needed that sense of humor that usually came out in his case (even in dramas, let alone "escapist" ones). So oddly enough, you have a Peter Cushing acting all over the place, and an almost understated Doug McClure. Kind of a switch.

LAND THAT TIME FORGOT and WARLORDS OF ATLANTIS had cooler-looking monsters, but AT THE EARTH'S CORE and PEOPLE THAT TIME FORGOT were faster-paced and more entertaining overall. LAND and WARLORDS struck me as more speculative and concept-driven Sci-fi, while the other 2 were more straight-out action-adventure stories.
