There are at least three (possibly more that I don't know of):
Visit to A Small Planet (1960) (which I've not seen before)
And for anybody in the know - is Jerry Lewis a closet sci-fi fan?
Visit to A Small Planet (1960) (which I've not seen before)
Jerry Lewis is Kreton, a childish alien who, against his teacher's will leaves his planet to visit the Earth, and lands in the backyard of a famous television journalist who doesn't believe in U.F.O's and aliens. Wanting to study humans but not able to fully understand them, Kreton makes a mess out of it, generating a lot of comic situations. The Nutty Professor (1963) (which I haven't seen for years but I remember how Buddy Love seemed to be one of the most evil Hydes of them all)
Professor Julius Kelp is a nerd who's been picked on by everyone. After the football coach humiliates him in front of his class and his beautiful student, Stella, Julius decides he will create a potion. After drinking the potion, he turns into, Buddy Love a wild and a popular party animal, plus, he isn't afraid to talk to Stella anymore. There's one problem-the potion wears off quickly. And finally Way.... Way Out (1966) (which I tried to watch once but thought it was too boring and stopped about 20 minutes in)
The Americans and Russians each have a two-person base on the Moon The Americans have had to keep replacing their astronaut teams because they quickly go crazy; they have been using only male astronauts on the unspoken assumption that this would avoid any possibility of impropriety. The Russians, as godless Communists, are under no such constraints, and their male-female team has remained well-adjusted At the start of the film, a male and female American astronaut team is sent up to replace the sex-starved all-male team. The government insists on them being married first to preserve morality. Most of the story revolves around the eventual consummation of this marriage of convenience, and around their relationship with their Russian neighbors, who keep casually dropping by.What do die-hard sci-fi fans think of his output? Terrible? Brilliant? A little of both? I think that the Nutty Professor is a great dramedy type film, but the other two I'm not so sure about.
And for anybody in the know - is Jerry Lewis a closet sci-fi fan?
